Turning hobbies into profit
« on: June 11, 2014, 09:22:20 am »
Who else here has turned their hobbies into profit? My husband and I are in the process of trying to do that now. He is a freelance artist, mainly does pencil drawings. I am trying to get my business of making pet beds up and running. In addition, I also make native american jewelry.

One of my hobbies is woodcrafts, and I have an Etsy shop that I sell magnets and ornaments at. I don't make enough to live off of, but it's enough to pay for my hobby.

I'm a professional artist, photographer and craftsperson.  I make jewelry and needlework patterns.  I have a website and stores on Fine Art America and Zazzle with more to come.  I'm looking for a no fee site to sell my patterns, some for free so people can download them.  Then I'll pick a place for jewelry and other handcrafts.   ;D :moneymouth:

I like to do crafts but it seems everyone else is doing something similar, and don't want to pay for  something everyone in the world is making. I just need to find the right thing to try and make.

Yes! It is possible to sell your own art work.

My hobby is making extra money so it has been focused on profit from the very start! I have built a healthy money making habit with visiting fusion cash every day for the last twenty months.  I also visit several other sites and all of the money goes into making more money! I work between twelve and nineteen hours a day, seven days a week and all of that money goes to my family. That is where labor stops and the hobby begins. I spend half an hour a day on the computer making side cash. I spend an hour a month re-investing everything that I have made on the side.  My passive income is already beating my point to click income!

I have sold hand crafted jewelry and crocheted scarves and mini handbags. I made a doily once but you'd have to charge $100 because they're so time-consuming and, frankly, doilies are not in big demand.  But to answer your question: no.

I have tried and failed more times than I care to count, to make my jewelry business and handmade greeting cards sell. It got too trendy and everyone starting doing it :(

I usually have so much time and money in my hobbies that no one would pay what I would need to cover the time and materials.  I usually give them away as gifts.
Have a wonderful day!

God blessed me with many talents.  I crochet hats and am phenomenal on the computer, I have used my talents to make extra money, but I would have to research how to begin my own business, seeing that I have never done that before.  Good luck to anyone who has encountered that realm.  Right now, I am doing the ptc's on three or four sites and doing Fusion Cash.  I am trying to earn extra money to help me take care of my bills.   :rainbow: :rose:
