Tree Fell on House
« on: March 09, 2015, 08:43:21 am »
I love living in the country but one drawback is falling trees.  During the snow/ice storm last week, a 50 foot pine tree came down on my house.  It uprooted, fell across our propane tank and hit the corner of our house.  It was around midnight Thursday morning when we were awaken by a very loud boom followed by our house shaking with things falling off the walls and shelves.  It just seemed to last a few seconds and then everything quieted down.  We thought we had an earthquake (I live in NE KY).  The next morning when I looked out the window to see how much snow we got (15 inches), all I could see was a tree in front of the window.  We were very blessed with the Lord watching over us.  If the tree had decided to fall in the opposite direction, it could have come through our bedroom.
Have a wonderful day!

I had a tree fall on my house some years ago and it did a lot of damage to my roof which was fairly new at the time.

A tree fell on my mothers house a few months ago. Thank goodness no one was injured. The insurance paid for the damage.

WOW, you are so lucky that it did not fall on you.  God was watching over you that night.  I hope your insurance company will pay for the damages.

You are blessed that the Lord was watching over you.  15" of snow is a lot of weight on the trees.  I am glad you are safe.

This reminds me of something I saw the other day. I saw a massive tree which had fallen and totaly crushed a wooden garage in our neighborhood, thankfully missing the house by about 10 feet. I felt really sorry for the home owners but I think they have a sense of humor. They left a big sign outside their house saying "wood for sale - LOL".

Wow glad you guys are alright.  I have pine trees all around my house some of them are very large.  Year before last had one fall (but lol not from snow we are in Florida) and it fell right by the house - same thing a little bit closer to the house and it would have hit my bedroom when I was sleeping.  Again, glad you are ok and yes, God is GOOD !

I believe God had a hand in keeping you safe. We have had some trees fall in our little town this year, but for several years we were in a drought and then this year we had some heavy snow. But thank God the trees that have gone down most missed the houses and the house that were hit were falling down anyway as people have not lived in them in years. Hubby and I have been harvesting wood from trees that have fell down over the last few years, but they are in a friends field.  We get the wood free for doing it. Works for us. But it is work.
