simpler life
« on: September 19, 2015, 07:53:40 am »
hundreds of years ago, there were not as many choices.
most choices were from the environment and less toxic.
people had fewer problems.
I think people today are trying to go back to those least complicated ways of life.

It can't get much simpler for me. I get up to a warm house thanks to the automatic thermostat and heat pump, have hot oatmeal thanks to the microwave, flip on my computer and make some easy money, go to town in my car with automatic transmission, buy some stuff with my automatic debit card and bring it home to watch a little automatic entertainment on the TV set.

I think you are right.  A hundred years ago, people worked to live and spent most of their time maintaining their food sources and their households to a liveable standard.  There were no phone bills to pay, no internet bills, no insurance bills, just food water and gas.  And then the downside is.....very minor things would kill you dead.  But, I think that not having so much stuff makes life a lot more simple.

There are some things that were great back in the day when life was simpler but there were also many things that were not so great.  I like my life today, the way it is with all the modern conveniences.  I lived through a time when many things were really rough and a struggle not saying that today you don't have a struggle with some things but it's much better than it was years ago.  Give me today anytime.   :)

Seriously?  No they aren't.  If they were they would not have their face glued to a smart phone constantly.  They would not want everything to happen instantly.  And they wouldn't have a million entertainment devices.  Always the latest and the greatest.

People can't even pay for items at a register because they are too busy texting or posting on facebook making fun of someone in the store or complaining about the cashier.

I saw where a guy I know was complaining about the waiter at the restaurant he was at on facebook while he was sitting there at the table.  He was making fun of him for being over weight and saying he smelled bad.  Would be willing to bet he ran the guy to death and then stiffed him.  All the while being nice to his face when he was at the table.

Depends on how you look at it.  There are a lot of people out of work and struggling and loosing their homes every day because they can't find work.  Or are hungry because they can't buy food.
Not everyone get the freebie food card.

I think things were better back in the 30's even though we are talking depression times.  People had food to eat.  A house to live in.  You grew your own food.  And if a kid passed gas in class it didn't make national head lines.

I think women had it worse hundreds of years ago.
They were treated like cattle & were essentially just work horses.    I don't think it was easier for women at all.   In some countries it is still awful for women.

Things back then were safer and you never had to really worry.

Simplify your life by delegating some chores.
