i dont know about eating them but the are really good for poison ivy --my children are very allergic and we use them to rub on it and it drys it up really good

Yuck. Rule of thumb, if it is bitter it is bad. I have no idea about peels though. I know they are good for composting.

Hermit crabs like them. I am not sure I am willing to try it. I would certainly do it over worms or something like that ha!

I can't remember the source, but I have heard that there are beneficial properties to the inside of the peel.  Never tried it but I put the chopped up peel around my rose bush.  I also read that if you put the peel on your forehead, it will help your headache.

I saw on one of those click video things that banana peels whitened your teeth
Good to know if you ever go on a show like survivor & needed to keep your teeth clean, & they had a banana tree handy ;)

Eat whatever you want, there is no rule of thumb for eating anything, EVERYONE has different tastes, geez! 8)

I saw a banana peel was supposed to stop itching of insect bites, I wouldn't care to eat one though.  If anyone does eat them (or plan to), it would probably be a good idea to make sure it's organic because regular banana peels are full of pesticides.

Banana peels are used for many different things, like feeding the pigs in some rural community and for itching.

love Banana's  but i don't eat the peel,,,,  i believe pigs eat them and and my neighbors kids feed small pieces to their hermit crabs  lol  I'll just stick to the Banana itself and send the peels next door  :)
