I know I'll cry a bit....I did when my childhood dog died....I was away at college.

I know how you feel. We had a large black cat for 18 years and he finally died too, although we never knew how. He just left the house one day and never came back. We looked all over for him, to no avail. He was like a child to us. He would always come from outdoors when called and bring us dead mice to see. He ate like a champ and was a very loving cat too.
