Silly question?
« on: May 12, 2016, 10:52:34 am »
If you ate breakfast out and you ordered sunny side up eggs and the yoke was broke, would you send it back?

I know a foolish question but i'm just curios as to what you would do.

If it was me, I would not be ordering them sunny side up.  I usually get my eggs scrambled and on the rare occasion of fried eggs, I would prefer to have them over easy.

But if I DID ask for sunny side up and the yolk came to me broken, I would probably politely ask the server if I could get another one, yes.

I would ask for another egg. But nicely. But since i don't eat my eggs sunny side up i don't worry about it.  Hubby likes his sunny side up and he would have just gone ahead and ate it.  But he is nicer then me.  He eats anything.  But if i had been the waitress, i would have had the cook cook another one. Never bashful there.

I think you would have every right to send it back. The egg should be cooked as you want it to be and if it's broken, it's not been presented to you correctly.

That being said, I personally would not send it back since I would only be destroying its perfection as I eat it anyway, and I don't see much of a problem with a slightly mussed egg. It will still taste exactly the same! I'm not that obsessive compulsive.

Besides, if I'm hungry, I would not want to wait for another egg to be cooked. Breakfast time is my really hungry time.

Depends if you want to wait for a new plate and how hungry you are.  You are going to break the yolk anyway.  Always order my over easy to avoid this.

If the yolk is runny enough, I wouldn't worry about reordering!

I order scrambled eggs when I'm eating out.  I might cook an egg sunny side up if I'm at home and I want to dip a piece of toast into it.

Have a great day!

I don't think I'd risk getting sunny side up eggs at a restaurant. On the off chance I did, I probably wouldn't send the eggs back. I usually don't send back food unless it's truly inedible, but I don't think there's any harm in returning food as long as someone is polite.

I eat eggs anywhere from scrambled hard to cracked raw into a glass, so it wouldn't make any difference to me. Now with my wife, that's another story. She expects perfection.

I don't eat them that way but i would send them back .  If I order scrambled hard and they come runny back they go.

I don't eat sunny-side-up eggs.  But if one of my children ordered them that way, I would consider sending them back.  I would factor in how the service was up to that point.  I work in the food industry and sometimes things happen from the heat, to the plate, to the table.  If it's not affect flavor.  And all else was satisfactory I wouldn't make a deal out of it.

If the yoke was hard, yes.  If it was still runny everywhere, no.  I haven't eaten a fried egg in many, many years.
Have a wonderful day!
