I have had to block it off my computer and set it to only be accessed when I need to use it. It was running on my computer without permission. And slowing it down too! One of the offers i did put a keylogger on my computer. I can'f figure out which one did it yet but my brother is going to go in and find out its source. Surely the advertiser didn't intend that but there are people out there who can piggy back on things like this and sometimes they slip through.

Being computer savvy, I noticed a really fast almost NEAR HIDDEN download to my pc when I registered with
neilson ratings.
I then went into my add remove programs, only to find that it had installed it's own program into my pc. :angry7:
It's even listed under their name. I'm sure it was a tracking program/spyware etc.
Wherein' I removed it due to the fact: #1, they tried to SNEAK it in. #2, That program can drag your pc down, let alone have access to some of my data. I don't do sneaky! :angry7:

Hmmm. I have had the Neilsen Ratings running on my computer for a while now and have had absolutely, NO problems with it slowing my PC down. And it did not download anything else on my computer other than what it stated it was going to.
And if you read the TOS on their website, it IS a type of tracking program. It tracks your computer usage, how long you use your PC, etc. Just the same as when they track peoples viewing of TV programs. Which is a wider spectrum of how they track it as they do not need you to download anything to find out what ppl watch. That's done by a type of Network.
For their computer tracking, it just lets them know what sites are more popular, peoples viewing habits, etc.
Go to their website and read the PRIVACY statement. It explains what they do. I never download before I read EVERYTHING! Even the small print.

It never gave me the option to accept it, let alone read the TOS. Maybe it was my browser etc., because it just flashed the d/l super quick. I didn't notice any drag but some may if they don't have allot of memory on their hard drive.

Because most ppl just downloaded it right off the bat. I on the other hand, went directly to their website BEFORE clicking the offer here so I could see what they were about, etc. Most people just have happy fingers and click w/out reading first. I used to program computers so I'm just more cautious than some as I know the harm that some files/programs can cause.

Then if that were the case you would be agreeing with the poster who claimed the problems. That program executes itself, runs in your processes even when you did not access it. You can disable it's startup upon windows loading and it will auto reset itself. It IS invasive, it IS spyware and it is gone from here. I challenge you to tell my security suite through verizon that their scanners are wrong. Further more it places a hidden program called spylantern keylogger on you computer. So don't try to tell me it's perfectly fine and not a problem at all.

LMAO! You're really tooooooo damn funny girlie.
I was stating MY opinion on the experiences I've had with Nielson Ratings. I have NEVER had any problems with it whatsoever!
As for the keylogging program: It's a program to track your computer use. It will track everything you do on your computer, even the key strokes! That's how they get the information for their ratings. SpyLantern logs keystrokes, captures screenshots, and monitors Internet activity.
Furthermore, Nielson Rating program is customizable. Mine does not start up without coming up and asking me first! Hence again, READ FIRST!
And do you know what the definition of Spyware is??:
Spyware: Software that sends information about your Web surfing habits to its Web site.
Software that gathers information about a user while he/she navigates the Internet

What, did you think that Nielson was going to use Telepathy to track your computer usage??
As I stated before, if people would read things first, like going to a website before clicking an offer, they would have known everything it downloads & how the program works. Again, it did not download anything that it didn't say it was going to download. The many joys of READING FIRST!!!!!
As for my being computer savvy because you stated that I apparently didn't find what the poster did? First you cannot find that in which you knew was there! I used to program computers & don't have to prove myself to the likes of you on rather or not I'm computer savvy! tisk tisk: Second, apparently I'm computer savvy enough to have read first before agreeing to download anything as to where you apparently, were not! And no program is hidden from you regarding it running on your computer. If you were computer savvy, you could have found it instead of your Verizon program picking it up. It's really quite simple!
I just said that I have not had any problems. It IS perfectly FANTASTIC, for ME! So I could care less about trying to convince others. It's called an opinion and I have one on the matter the same as you do. Not everyone is going to like everything. If we all were the same, the world would be a boring place to be! You have your opinion regarding this company and I have mine. Lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that! I am not posting on this matter anymore as I have nothing against Nielson. I was simply adding my experiences with them which have been fantastic. Sorry you have had bad luck. Good Day to you!

Agreed MystedMoon.. I had no problems with it either. Reading Terms of Service before completing any offer gives you a heads up on what the site requires and gives you info about cancellation, return policy, and such... so yah it's something we all should take the time to do.

"Thank-You" Mike! Yes, it does pay in the end to READ first. ESPECIALLY when it comes to your computer.
I usually do not allow spyware to run on my computer and do have ways of checking to be sure nothing is downloaded w/out my sole permission. Not even my husband can do so on my computer!

But Neilson Ratings is a good "cause" as it gives you the chance to be a part of their research. It is the same company who does the ratings for TV. It's not as personal as their programs tracking EVERYTHING you do on the computer but the same concept as it tracks what you watch on TV as far as Network channels go; NBC, ABC, CBS, etc.

And they've been around many, many, many years. So I trust them as they have an outstanding reputation!

Thanks all for your comments. Maybe the reason my computer want download the program is because of the content it contains.  I may be better off not getting that particular credit.  I dont want anyone or anything tracking my daily use of my computer even if the site has GREAT RATINGS its invading my space.  Thanks all have a wonderful day!!!!

You are most welcome! And Nielson isn't for everyone & is a matter of personal preferance. What works for some, doesn't for others.
Glad to have been of assistance to you though and best of luck to you.
