Do you call people...
« on: August 05, 2016, 04:21:36 pm »
Just curious as to if you call people on their BS or just let them talk and go on letting them think you believe them?

Not sure why people think they need to brag to make people like them.  Most times people know when you are lying and it just turns people off from wanting to be friends.

If I know someone is lying I cannot let it go. I confront it head on. I would rather stand alone then with someone who wants to lie.

There are plenty of games that some people play.  Some people talk about they're problems because they want sympathy.  Some people "build their selves up by tearing other people down".  Some people thrive on gossip and drama.  Whenever, I experience the energy of these games....

I'll walk away.  I always have something better to do and I've very selective about who I spend time with and whether or not I'm willing to tolerate certain behavior.

I've found it best to stay "emotionally" at arms length from people. Everyone has an agenda to one extent or another. Best to never think anyone is being entirely "genuine" at any given time. Probably sounds more cynical than I'd  like to be, but it's been sound advice in practice

I find that ignorant. I had 2 strokes and a heart attack in 2001. I have lost a lot of memory. My ex keeps putting these strange facts in my head. He will never have a prayer to get me back. I am not totally dumb.

I pick and choose my battles...  so it depends on whether that person is worth my time, whether what they say matters, my mood...   One of my family members embellishes all the time, I just let it go, because the drama it would cause wouldn't be worth the correction or whatever.

What I am referring to specifically is a co-worker who is just totally BS every time he opens his mouth.  Usually I just don't say anything.  I did say something a couple days ago.  I didn't call him a liar but pointed out there was no way what he said could be true.  I have just noticed there are more and more people like that.

I actually agree with you.  Yeah, a lot of things sound bad when you say them out loud but the truth is the truth.

This is true.  I try to stay engrossed in my phone when I am on break.  Not being rude I just do not want to get involved in any drama.  I need the job too bad.  So far I have always let it go but every now and then I just can't take it and need to say something.

It really depends on my mood.  Most of the time I just let people prattle on, but if I'm a bit "grumpy" I tend to be more outspoken and let people know that I know they're full of it.

It depends on the person and the situation.  If it's a pretty good friend I will call them on it.  Other than that I usually let it go and it doesn't bother me.
