Lots of great advice.  All will work if you really apply just a few.  Determination is key.

I'm a couponer. I save money on everything I buy at the grocery. You'd be amazed at how much you can save. We have a local Kroger and I follow Kroger Krazy on Facebook to find out about the deals.

Someone also mentioned the Penny Challenge on here. Start by saving one penny a day and add a penny each day for a year. Or, save your change. Like another person said, it adds up quick.

Good luck to you!  ;)

I've saved money by adjusting my thermostat, eating out less, and buying only what I need at the grocery store.

Be prepared to give things up.  I was talking to a customer the other day.  He said his son is going to loose his house.  But when he get's in his car the floor is scattered with starbucks cups.  YIKES.  When we were trying to save money we moved into a dump.  For 4 years we utilized one vehicle.  2 adults and 3 kids.  One working outside of the residence part time. We shopped every 2 weeks.  With the exception of milk and bread.  We did our laundry by hand (with a wonder washer) And hung the clothes up outside.... and in the winter... all over the apartment.  We ordered pizza once a month.  Picked it up... instead of delivery.  We wore layers at home instead of turning up the heat.  We didn't go anywhere for entertainment.  We had bonfires when the weather allowed and that was enough. We cut the cord.  Only using internet service to make money online.  We were diligent.  We walked country roads endlessly to vent and exercise. We learned less is more.  And appreciate everything so much more now.

Well when you think you really need it and feel of that need is there in your mind, and then you don't buy it; you need to remember that feeling of it was ok feeling not to buy it, you will be ok not getting the item. sorry.

I wish there is a better way. I know there is somewhat a way but I too am struggling on being consistent. I try to save at least twenty every time when I get paid, but 2 or 3 weeks down and I needed some gas or the kids needed some lunch money and I had to give in and use it. I do not save at the bank, I usually stash it somewhere in my house.

I was gonna mention the Krazy Coupon Lady's website. Although you don't need to become an extreme couponer, there are some very good tips on the site that even an average person could use. One thing that the extreme couponers are good at is to find ways to combine savings. For example, in addition to using coupons, there are several apps (like ibotta, savingstar, etc.) that reward you for making purchases, and since the rewards are different than coupons, the "savings" can stack. Another example is that our local grocery store has a gas-savings loyalty card that will offer cents off per gallon for making certain purchases. One of these gas-savings deals that they constantly offer is 5-cents off for every $20 in gift cards that you purchase. So before shopping at Target or Walmart, I pick up a few gift cards to those places first, and then use those in place of money to purchase my deals at the other store.

I just save a dollar a day.  :)  Just put it in my piggy bank and don't look at it and counted at the end of the year.

Coupons (preferably printed out from a site that pays you every time one is used ) and rebate apps.

Yep, you should find a low cost alternative for some of your expenses if you can (i.e. cell phone service provider, etc...)
