Striving for never ending self improvement.  Leadership qualities will certainly follow that.  Intimate relationships in the work place never end well.  The healthier to diet the better.  Will make for a clearer mindset.  A stronger mind and better making one more productive while missing less days(none) to illness.

What looks favorable?  Well you would think people who work hard.  But usually the ones who move up are the goof offs that call in and stay in the break room.

Relationships?  As long as you aren't jumping each other in public places at work I don't recon they can stop you from having relationships.  They can if it is management dating employees I guess.  But that makes sense.

Food eaten at work?  Any thing you want.  Although if your job requires you to talk to people or like eye doctors and assistants for the love of mike don't eat onions and they get in somebody's face and breathe.  OR crunch on peppermints.  I hate to have to smell peppermint on somebody's breath.  Gags me.

To a point.  Like I said if you work in say an eye doctor office or somewhere that you are in other people's face you should not eat onions or other stinking foods.

You are correct in only the boss can tell you what is expected.  But some good work habits that are for every where -

Be on time.  Actually be a few minutes early.  If your shift starts at 7:00 then be there are ready to start at 7.  Not sliding in to the parking lot at 7 and run thru the door clocking in right at 7 or a couple of minutes after.

Don't stay on break longer than you are suppose to.  Not even a couple of minutes.  A lot of places you take turns taking breaks and if you take too long you cut in to someone else's break time.

Take care of yourself.  Don't worry about what other people are doing unless it directly effects you.

If you have anger issues then get some help.  Being a bully will only get someone hurt.  Sooner or later the bully will go to far or the victim will get fed up and react.

Don't call in/out how ever you say it.  That makes it tougher on every one else.  I use to work with a girl that had gotten until she called in once a week.  The let her go a few weeks ago.

Don't leave early.  Again, that makes it hard on every one else.  Someone has to take up the slack from having to do your job.

Actually DO YOUR JOB.  Don't just show up and take up space.  You are getting paid to do a job so do it.

I am sure there are other things.  It is mostly common sense.  You are hired to do a job so show up and be on time and do that job.

I know my thoughts are in the minority because most people these days are slackers and want money for nothing.  They don't want a job they just want a check.

None of us are perfect, nor, will we ever be. I tend to work too much at between ninety tone hundred hours per week so I am not sure that my advice is very sage. I think the best, and simplest, way to improve is to be of value to company. Be an asset that makes profit. If a company asks for an inch-give them a foot. I do not believe that work place relationships are appropriate and almost always lead to misconceptions and trouble. I bring two hard boiled eggs and four pieces of bacon for breakfast, celery/apples/banana for snacks, and a hearty romaine salad with cucumbers, diced red peppers, avocados and tomatoes. I generally keep an extra package of ramen and a container with protein mix in case I get hunger pangs/cravings.

I'm retired now, but, I worked in a dental office and used to take my lunch.  I pretty regularly ate (and still do) a can of sardines for lunch with crackers.  My coworkers hated the smell and I remember going to my car to eat lunch just to keep the peace.

      You are right: No one is perfect...try to be your best!

      Work habits: Be polite, professional and efficient.
                          Get done as much work as you can.
      Work relations: Do not get to involved with others.
                             Keep your distance.
      What to eat at work: Do not bring junk food to work.
                                     Pack a brown bag or small lunch
                                     bag with your favorite snacks.
      Do not offend any one...you will remain at work for a long time.

Someone who is always on time, gets along with everyone and is dependable I think will go a long way in showing you are a good employee.

Bring your own food from home like Sandwiches etc...will save you money...

I guess you can say diligence is favorable in my work place. Everyone has different patterns, but they need to be focused.

As to relationships, if not under the same manager (and fooling around with your manager is a big no too), I think it's fair game.

Food, it's all up to a person. I wish my workplace did encourage more healthy eating, but we have lots of junk food available.

It's great that you want to improve yourself, however I'm not sure how to answer your questions? Every job have their on rules of conduct, I suggest you discuss these questions with your co-workers. Overall if you come to work on time, work hard, and perform at work the best way you can that should keep your boss happy. Best of luck on your job endeavors!
