Coping with depression

Since the loss of my daughter on May 6th to suicide, I have gone to very deep depression.  I cannot sleep more than 3 hours at night.  The nightmares of pictures of my daughter in the coroner's office will not go away.  I wish I knew what to do to get rid of these images in my head.  My doctor prescribed me something that could help me cope and they are not working.  Any one else out there have any ideas on what to do.  I do not think I will ever recover from this loss and I am having a complete melt down.

Please if any out there is thinking of suicide, get some help, think of your family that you are leaving behind that has to cope with the loss.  There is always someone out there that will listen and that includes me.  I donated money in my daughter's memory to suicide prevention.  Never , Ever let things spiral out of control until you feel there is no hope in this world.  I hope this post will others that are having hard time coping with life.  If I can save just one life, it would make feel better.

I am so sorry for your loss. The grief must be indescribable. I'm glad you've gone to see a doctor, but I would definitely recommend speaking to a therapist. Even a grief counselor for a period of time might take some of the depression weight off of you. If you feel you can't afford it, there's always sliding scale options (depending, even as low as around $20 per session), or there might be a county or state program that provides individual or group therapy sessions for free. Just reach out, do some online searches, and you'll find something. I hope for the best for you, and that in time, the pain of this will ease. God bless.  :heart: :peace:

The loss of a loved one is always a heavy burden, and it's not something that goes away.  I know.  It's been six years since my grandmother died and not a day goes by I don't cry when I think of her.  She died in front of me and I literally held her hand as her body drained of its warmth.  I still see her face, the way it looked as she drew her last breath.  I have a hard time even putting on the clothes I wore the day she passed. I'll burst into tears if a song she used to listen to is played on the airwaves, even if it's on a restaurant radio.  The best we can do is figure out a way to live with our grief.  The pain lessens, but it never actually leaves.  I've learned to 'have a moment of sorrow' where I ball my eyes out then continue on with my day.  Talking to others helps but only if they have experienced the same grief as you.  That's what you need to research.  Support groups for those who have lost a loved one.  Grief councilors, in my mind, were always people with degrees in counselling so they tell you generalized responses to try and make the pain less.   You need someone who understands the pain.  Support Groups were created for that reason.  Even if they are only online like Facebook groups.  Join one.  There's a lot of us out there who lost someone and know your pain.

I'm sorry for your loss.  I would find a group for grief counseling.  I personally don't believe medication is always the solution to cope with issues.  If you talk to others in your situation it would probably help.  Good luck.

You have not giving your self credit, you went threw something most of us never will, be kind to
 you and take time to do some nice stuff for you,  buy something you wanted , eat your favorite food , call the hospitals social services department in your area and ask if they have a  grief support group  some times a funeral home has information and even a Hospice, you lost a loved one, really don't matter how .... they have groups, big thing is a support system .

I'm sorry for your loss, there is no way anyone say in time it will pass, having a child leave that way is painful. Taking your own life is unthinkable, doing that before God says its time for you to come home, you have no way of knowing how he is going to call you home. We have a choice in life, we have people that are out to cause you to do things that can put pressure on you and you think there is no way out, they show how controlling they can be, those people have very little thought for human life, they prey on the weak and tenderhearted, they feel that if they pick out that one person, they feel they have brought that person so low they can't see their way out. Keeping something like that to yourself, it build will up, you can't let others have that kind of control of your life. Depression and quilt are like a worm, eating away at your being. Having a guilty feeling of knowing that you caused someone to take their life is not what a bully will feel, he will know that he has brought someone to his level because he has little respect for himself, picking on others makes them feel a natural high. If you feel that you can't get out of this depression state, and doctors don't seem to help, take some time and just go away from anyone who knows you, have that special time to yourself and remember her, talk to her, let her know that you are still there for her, she will let you know she is there with you. God knows what you are going thru and he will always be with you. I hope this will help some. There is not a fix to a situation like this, people can give their advice, but it's up to you to be strong even in times of loss. Hold onto God's hand, and be Blessed, he will guide you to what you should do next.
