Medical marijuana, yes. I've seen how much it helps ease symptoms of diseases and conditions, and oftentimes it's the only thing that makes any difference in the person with the ailment. I really don't like the idea of it for recreational use, though...  ::)

If it wasn't for someone who had cancer that was dear to me I would have otherwise say no. However, I do see that marijuana has it's uses. I just worry about the abuse by people of the system when legalized.

I agree with the legalization of marijuana but I believe that the revenue should be strictly governed. I live in Colorado which was one of the first states to legalize marijuana. Supposedly the State is making huge bucks in tax revenue but no one can point to any of the improvements that are coming as a result. The state still pushes for increased transportation taxes and is looking at implementing a per mile tax because they can not make enough off of gasoline tax due to better fuel efficiency. Increased taxes for public education are always on the ballot yet I would find it hard to believe that there is a worse public education system than Colorado's. I put one child through private school as a result. I think that the current administration is too busy focusing on Quixote's windmills to take a stab at repealing legalized marijuana and the current Attorney general has indicated that he is amazed at the tax revenue marijuana generates.

Unfortunately, when it's legal it will be in the hands of any and everyone. People are getting it very easy now. When people take it as medicine,do they get high?

I like and generally agree with the above poster.  If marijuana is legalized, it needs to be treated just like alcohol.  For example, if you smoke and drive and are in an auto accident, you need to pay severe fines and maybe go to jail depending on the result of the accident. In other words, there needs to still be some legal restrictions and common sense approaches for its use.  And yes, it needs to be publicly outlined where the proceeds are going in the state.

I am all for complete legalization.   Of course with regulations just as alcohol.   We have a shot glass that sums up how feel about it.   "God made pot, man made beer, who do you trust"

But how does that logic work on the many other plants God made which even in their 'natural' state are highly toxic if ingested by people?

It's bad enough that people drink and drive and kill hundreds every year. What will happen if they legalize marijuana? What would be next? Legalizing cocaine? LSD? Heroin?

Police don't have the means for testing anyone under the influence of drugs in the field. Do they arrest someone under the influence and then the person gets off because of it?

As usual, they are putting the horse before the wagon.  Those states  that have legalized marijuana are breaking federal law. They are also having a hard time dealing with the "thumb their noses" at local law enforcement because the law's hands are tied. Crime has gone up in those states. Those that started their stores are making a fortune, the states are making a fortune but where does the money go? As usual, they didn't think it through before passing the law.

Where are the "smart" politicians? I think they are becoming a myth like the unicorn. :)

I believe marijuana should be legalized. The widespread use of marijuana is already established. And it is also a natural product which can assist you in relaxation and pain which can be of great relief to those who suffers from many medical conditions. There is so many pros to this plant product if there is more knowledge about it to the public in terms of dosage, side effects, etc. and it can reduce the stigma associated with it. As a society, we are already laden with so many drugs and/or chemicals that are abused. Of course, it does not mean we should add another one to the list. However, marijuana is a substance that had been labeled in such a way that seems out of proportion to other dangers out there.
I view marijuana as just another herb that needs to be recognized to be beneficial when it is taken like any other medication. As far as abuse, there are now probably far more abuse in prescribed legal drugs.
