$1,000 missing!
« on: August 06, 2017, 02:51:59 pm »
I just counted my savings and someone helped themselves to a stack of my money!  It was in what I presumed to be a secure place, but I recently had visitors.  I hate to blame anyone but I am not mistaken in the amount that I am supposed to have and the amount that I have now.  What should I do?

Never assume  you know  people as much as you do,  Temptation is always there, Why keep that kind of money where  someone  will find it. If they know you have it they will find it. But call the sops and  maybe they can help you but don't count on it.

Wow!!
Sorry to hear!
I have to say that it is sad that people you let in your house take advantage. I would sugeest to keep you money in a safe that is hidden and bolted  into the hosue. Other than that you may need to put it in a bank account.

bummer.  I hate when you think you can trust people and they do something like that.  Maybe call and asked them if they saw anything funny while they were there, maybe some guilt will win out.  Anyway I am so sorry, I know how hard it is to get a little ahead.

Wow... well... If you know exactly who was there and when and you don't risk of accusing people randomly, you should definitely confront them and ask for help and support.

Sorry that hurts, stupid snap actions. Your story is the reason why I am placing secret/discreet security boxes throughout my house, I am trying to better the house so I can sell or trade it, this upgrade is doable. I wish you peace and calm so you can think.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will soon get your money back. I never have that much cash in my house. So sad to think someone would visit and take your money.

Put the money in the bank instead of having that much laying around.  Don't invite people over.  Hide the money in the back of your closet in a old pair of shoes in a box and put some junk on top.  That money is gone, sorry.  Whoever stole it will have to deal with the karma.

Wow thats tough hard to prove if many people are in your house. I have a few hundred  also in the house but 1000.00 that hurts. I guess the bank is better .

That's awful that someone took some of your money. You should get a savings account and not tell anyone anything about it.

It wasn't in an obvious place. I'm taking the containers my savings were in to the police station today to see if I can get them finger printed.  I may hire a private investigator to do it for me if they won't.  I saw a step by step guide on dusting for prints myself also while researching.

Thanks, I got a safe yesterday.  It was one of those things I knew I needed but kept putting off- such as a fire extinguisher, which I also put in an order for.  Lesson learned.

Wow!!

When I was saving in the bank the bank always had reason to dip into my funds (miscellaneous charges and so on).

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will soon get your money back. I never have that much cash in my house. So sad to think someone would visit and take your money.

The shoe box in the back of your closet trick doesn't work.....  I agree with you on the karma though. I'm looking into dusting for fingerprints.

Put the money in the bank instead of having that much laying around.  Don't invite people over.  Hide the money in the back of your closet in a old pair of shoes in a box and put some junk on top.  That money is gone, sorry.  Whoever stole it will have to deal with the karma.
