Well, like most have said, it's just a gutless attack on freedom of speech. Obviously, we shouldn't abuse our freedom of speech to use derogatory language like racial slurs and the like.  But nowadays everybody is looking to be offended by one foolish thing or another. People need to toughen up and tell it like it is. But you do that and the PC police will run you out of town (professionally if not literally)

What happened to freedom of speech? We are only "allowed to have pc opinions" on a lot of stuff now, so kids growing up will either mentally block non-pc thoughts, or be afraid to ask questions.

It is only one view of everything. Nothing else has value. Thus communism, fascism etc.

Give me freedom....not insult, but to think, speak, ask questions, and be able to hole a non-popular point of view with respect.

Like many things in this country PC has just gotten out of hand. What mny would regard as PC is what earlier generations referred to as being polite. Now on many college campuses asking someone where their from is considered non PC.

George Carlin said it best "PC is fascism pretending to be manners".

Exactly.  Words that are just words are considered a slur when they aren't.  People just look for reasons to be offended.  Especially if it is a customer verses an employee and they can get attention or get something for free.

Political Correctness is a direct attack against free speech. There's nothing in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence that says "Thou shalt not be Offended." It has turned America into a hodgepodge collection of whimps and crybaby snowflakes, not a united country. everybody's going to be offended about something, and kids in school should be taught to toughen up and accept that fact, instead of finding "safe spaces" to sulk in.

I'm liking this answer. Add me to your side.  :highfive:

And that is so stupid.  I have asked people from other countries where they are from and questions about their country because I found it interesting.  Saying people are stupid is such an understatement!

Teach young people to tell the truth as they see it always, but to try to be kind while doing so.

I think this PC has gotten so out of hand. Seems like we can not say a darn thing  that is not going to hurt  the little snowflakes feelings or any  body else. Seems to me like   their is no respect anymore, kids act like idiots, the parents let them run loose disrespecting every one,  wear baggy pants so every one can see their underwear, teachers can not get on them at scholl with out being sues, Yep  there are things we need to change before it  is  so out  of hand  that we can if it isn't already

First I'd analyze what purpose it serves, and if it is better than worse to teach.  One should at least explain it as a twenty-first century political phenomenon.

No, you don't need to teach it.

I live outside the box and I feel that everyone is unique.  People need to do whatever happens naturally for them.  I've experienced people correcting me; just because they have a different way of expressing their self.

I don't believe in right, wrong, black and white.  I believe there are many different shades that are acceptable.
Have a great day!

I don't believe in right, wrong, black and white.  I believe there are many different shades that are acceptable.

I use to work with a girl (several years ago) that was I want to think still in high school or just out.  She was home schooled.  She loved to correct me as far as grammar or anything I said.  I usually let it go.  Today, I would not do that. lol.  She also lived in a bubble.  She was very sheltered and only knew the views of her mommy and daddy and those were extremely warped. lol  Every one is different.  I don't believe everyone should be able to do "what comes natural for them".  People are foolish.  People need to act live civilized human beings.  And if you cannot do that then you need to stay at home and have family take care of you because I am tired of my taxes taking care of lazy people who refuse to work.  Goes back to being taught how to act.  Learning to be a civilized adult doesn't come natural.  You have to learn how to act.

I also do not think people are a right to "correct you" because they think differently than you.  I can picture you being in Walmart and talking to someone and a passerby hears what you are saying and disagrees and they jump on you and tell you that you are wrong.

One last thing on that. Goes to the school supply list.  I have heard stories where two people are complaining about the huge list of school supplies.  And someone else hears them and jumps on them berating them because they say the one complaining does not care about education.  I have seen facebook posts basically shaming some one for this (locally).  NO, most people have no issue with buying  supplies for their child.  But when each child is expected to bring 30 glue sticks, a 50 count box of pencils to share with the class, 3 boxes of kleenex, 3 canisters of clorox wipes, a large package of expo markers, and on and on then people have a right to complain and anybody else has a right to keep their face out of it. I even saw where one teacher asked each child to bring a large box of trash bags. And other items that are completely ridiculous.  smh.  Supply for your child.  Don't expect somebody else to pay your way.  That is why so many grow up thinking the world owes them something.

I think that the United States has gone too far with being politically correct. I feel that America's public education system is beyond repair. Funds that are meant for education get allocated to administration. My first child went through the public school system and took all AP classes starting with the summer before High School actually started. She took physical education on line so as not to mar her grade point average with sub-AP classes and had some exceptional teachers. Her AP classes and extracurricular activities ended up costing us about nine thousand dollars a year. Thirty tenured teachers quit from that school after my daughter left so we decided to put my son into a private school costing fifteen thousand a year. European children continually outscore American children and has always had considerably better educational facilities at lower costs. My children are giving serious thought to working abroad for eight months of the year when they have children so that they can expose their children to good education.
