Survivors benefits

DO you know how much your family would get from the federal government for survivor benefits if something happened to you today?

I was curious and signed up for the my social security and I found some pretty interesting information

I would get $464 if I became disabled today

my family would get a max of 1304 for survivor benefits each child would be 652 and my spouse would be 652.
but 652 times 3 is more than the max of 1304 but really that's pretty good with what I am currently making

ON the other hand I have only acquired 19 out of the 40 credits I need to receive retirement benefits from the federal government.

Of course I cant have full retirement until I am 67 anyhow.

Actually I think this person is wanting to plan for the future. You never know what could happen to you, it's nice to know where you stand with Social Security.

Everyone should keep up with their Social Security benefits.  Once you sign up you will receive notifications, I believe once a year.   I've kept up with mine for years.

I have been collecting for 18 years, with no end in sight yet. HAPPY CAMPER!

I am only 44 and collecting disability due to lupus and heart issues.  My husband, however, has worked at a good job and paid in since he was 16.  So, hopefully we'll be ok when he retires.

I was just trying to see what I would get in the event something would happen.
Disability can come in many forms. It doesn't always mean that its physical and I struggle with depression and anxiety.

But I also had a bad car accident 3 years ago. If we would have been a couple feet over more me and my son would have landed on the freeway. and I am sure we wouldn't have made it. its a scary thought. I cant afford life insurance right now. money is way too tight. SO its nice to think my family would get help if I wasn't here

After my sarcoma, I wasn't thinking clearly and I applied for early SS. After my head cleared a bit, I realized I could have applied for disability..so I checked. I would've only gotten around $!0 more a month but then, I would have been able to wait for full retirement age for my SS...but I kept thinking how long it takes for SSDI and the hassles, so just took early retirement.  Also, I could have applied for hubby's SS and taken that instead, but it would have been the same $$ amount.  and I was just tired of fighting for everything I had to fight for and I still say te woman I talked to lied to me about my amounts. It should have been about the same as hubby's. Long story there.
