Are you looking forward to Christmas?
« on: December 18, 2017, 04:47:37 pm »
Well not to be a negative person but for the first time in my 64 years I have absolutely nothing to look forward to but at least I am alive.  My youngest son move out under negative circumstances, my oldest son has to work and for the first time no celebrations.  But I appreciate the reason for the season and will figure out some way to be glad.

The son that has to work - first I am curious as to where he works. Some jobs you know going in you will most likely work the holidays.  Others you do not like some of the fast food and retail places that are open.  I am sorry if you are alone on Christmas.  Maybe you could volunteer at a soup kitchen if there is one in your area.  But you may rather stay home by yourself than to do that.  And there is nothing wrong with that either.  Do you not have any other family?  I guess I would do something to celebrate by myself.  Buy yourself something you want but don't open it until Christmas.  Get that pooch that is in the pic with you something.  Have something special to eat for you and the dog.  I wouldn't write off Christmas because it isn't what you want it to be or what it use to be.  Have your own celebration.  Or get on here.  Even people with family and stuff to do will probable come thru at least once.  Hope you can have a good day.  More people than you think are alone on the holidays.  And from some of the Christmas movies I have watched the past few nights I can see why this time of year has the highest suicide rate.  Gee whiz.  Why do all the Christmas movies have to be so dang sad.

Personally, I am looking forward to Christmas.

Merry Christmas, I wish you peace.  :peace: I have been alone for Christmas before. I am grateful that I have a tv with service.  :santa:

I have a daughter,  grand daughter and nephew that all have to work.  Police, airlines and hospitals do not close for the holidays.  Just hope it is a quite day for them. Glad I do have other family to share the day with.  Hopefully you can do something with your son either the day before or after.

It will be the first one without my dad :(.  Figured I'm better off working and making holiday overtime instead.

I always have had to work around the other grandmother when the grandkids and my son lived close.  So we chose a day to have Christmas. Does not have to be the same day as the rest of the world. Lots of folks that work, or have family going hither and thither to other places....choose a diff day, and make it warn and happy. Start a new tradition

We did for years, and the grandkids loved coming.

Now, the grand-kids  are grown, and we still do Christmas. Fortunately it works fore everyone this year, even for the other grandmother.  They are going to be with us on the 25th. Kinda cool :)

I am looking forward to it being over!!! I have no family so it's just a super depressing "family" holiday that is spent alone. Top it off with "happy" Christmas movies being the only things on tv. I really dislike this time of year SO MUCH.

It is a sad time for me this year, but I will be happy when it is over.  I do not like the lines and everyone rushing around.

Nothing to really look forward to over here either. Dad's been looking for a job, might lose our place to live, his sister is stirring up stuff...the same sister who usually has us over for the holidays. Sooo, that's going to be fun.

I am so sorry to hear about your Christmas.  I think it's so important to celebrate as a family.  I've even gone so far as to have it on Jan 10 when everyone could get together.

There are tons of jobs that do not close on the holidays.  And there are a lot of restaurants and retail places that are open.  Before long they will all be open and it will be just another day.

If you do not like Christmas then don't celebrate it.  There are plenty of things on besides "happy Christmas movies".  Life is what you make it.  You can choose to be depressed or you can choose to be happy.  Never have understood people who hate Christmas and want to project that on every one else.  Just don't celebrate it.
