TV Infomercials
« on: January 01, 2018, 09:09:32 am »
Have you ever bought something advertised over and over on a TV infomercial and you finally gave in and bought it?  Was it as advertised and you was glad you went ahead and bought it or did you decide it was a one time buy and really a waste of money.
I'm asking because I keep running into that ad for Crepe Erase and I listen for a bit and watch the results and testimonials and have almost given in a couple times.  What did you buy?  Anyone try Crepe Erase?

I haven't bought anything from an infomercial in so long. If I see something I am interested in, I just watch for it to show up at Walmart in the As Seen on TV section. lol

Back in the 90s I saw commercials for a plastic tray that you put thin-sliced potato pieces in and then microwaved it to make your own homemade potato chips. Well, we found it in the as-seen-on-TV section of Walmart and bought it. We thin-sliced a potato, put the slices in the little slots on the thing and put it in the microwave for less than the suggested time. What we got out was the potato slices melted into the melted potato chip contraption. After that, we've kind of left the as-seen-on-TV stuff alone, for the most part.

If you get the crepe erase, I hope it does well for you!

No, never try anything from them so don't know if they work or not.

One of our local TV channels has a "Does It Really Work?"  segment once a week. They buy these As Seen on TV thingies and take them to private homes, restaurants, garages, car places, etc. for whatever the product is and have them test it. Thumbs down if it doesn't work as advertised and thumbs up if the people testing like it. I haven't found one item I would want to buy...except for the pressure cooker I saw twice yesterday, but can't afford. which solved that impulse to buy. :)

The products they do are the $19.95 ones like the flashlight you can't break, etc. This past week they did the microwave lid that stays in the microwave with magnets. I missed the test!

I haven't ordered anything from infomercials because I really don't believe in the testmonials that they tell you. The only way I would buy something from informercials is if some demos it for me in person and not on tv

Thanks to all who have responded so far.  I will keep checking back for the next several weeks.  As far as the Crepe Erase, I'm not sure whether I will give it a go or not.  What I hate is usually you have to sign up to get it on a recurring basis, and then have to cancel if you don't want it anymore.  Just a bit of a hassle@

I've never bought anything from an infomercial. I don't entirely trust their products. I would rather get something from a store I already have some experience with in case I don't like the item and want to return it.

That particular one is enticing when they show how it erases wrinkles, but any good cream applied regularly will do pretty much the same thing.  :icon_rr:

I did buy something, but I can't remember what, a long time ago. Don't recall being too impressed with it. And they do have most of those tv infomercial doodads in bargain stores. Just check around.
