Snooping
« on: February 06, 2018, 04:55:44 am »
I have a roommate and whenever I leave the house and come back, I can go into my room and I know when she has been inside of there. I just get this feeling. Nothing is taken, but I don't know why she would be nosey. I don't go in her room. Should I mention this to her?

I'd set a boo-be trap, a fun one, so you can catch her and get a good laugh!  My mom had a friend who snooped in the bath room med-cabinet during their card club. They got her good by filling the cabinet with marbles ( Tile floor )  she stopped being a snoop !!

If it bothers you, then I would invest in a new  door *bleep*  with a lock.  It easy to install.

That is a little bit odd. Perhaps she is infatuated  with you? Maybe she is just enamored with the view from your window? A lock would not provide that knowledge or safety. I would put a small string between the door and the frame, on the hinges side, and close the door. If the door is opened the fallen string will let you know that she is going in your room. Then I would obtain a small video camera. There are dozens of sites, geared towards spy gear, that sell inexpensive video cameras with several that can stream to your phone. Some of these cameras are activated with motion sensors. This would let you see what it is that she is doing if/when she invades your privacy. From there you need to determine if you are in danger and/or this room mate is a good fit for you.

I would want to be absolutely sure before confronting her. Do what someone suggested here and set some kind of trap or set up some way you know she's been in there.

You could just say, "You know, this is crazy, but sometimes I get the feeling you go into my room when I am not there!" and see what she says.

Like someone else suggested.  I would set up a hidden camera.  There are inexpensive ones that can be purchased.  Many call them Nanny Cams.   But you need to be prepared for what you'll do if you find her in your room snooping.

I would sit-down and discuss it with her. That's not right. Either that, or begin locking your bedroom door when you're not home. I would also place hidden cameras throughout your room as a means of validating (or invalidating) your suspicions.

Some people just love snooping and rambling.  I would get a lock or install a camera.  You can also fill a glass with water or marbles,  reach your hand into the room and place it a few inches inside the room and close the door.  Make sure you remember your trap when you return and confront her if things have been disturbed.

This is why I would not have a room mate. I would rather work 2 jobs and have my own place.  If I thought she was snooping thru stuff I would either say something or set her up so she knows you know or a way to let her know she is caught. You could leave a note in a diary about her lol.

What would be even better would be if you could speak in to your phone and project your voice in to the room. Get the hgihgafighai out of my bedroom you nosey old hag. lol.  Well maybe say it nicer if you wish. haha but I guarantee that would stop her. Don't ever tell her you had the camera. It would scare the snot out of her and she would either move out or tell you what happened.

If you want to prevent further problems down the road, I would get this issue out into the open. Maybe it is just a misunderstanding or she legitimately didn't think there was anything wrong with doing so. Talking with her is the only way to sort it out.

How exactly can you tell? Does it look as if she rearranged any of your things?
