i used to do that a lot when i was a kid. my mom would flip out when she'd go to frost her cake and half the tub of frosting would be gone because my brother, sister, and myself would keep sneaking into the kitchen and taking spoonfuls of it.

but now i don't do that... very often!   ;D

if there's frosting left after my cake is done, i might eat a spoonful (or two) but then the tub goes into the trash because i know if i stick it in the fridge i will eventually eat it all. which is not something i should be doing, especially if there's a cake sitting right next to it!

lol I make my own, since I have the free time now. And as I make it I see all that goes into it, all the sugar and stuff.  Which makes me kind of not want to eat it. But when I can't help it I show no mercy with the mixing spoon.  :P

i use to use frosting on cake and cupcakes but my sister in law showed me another way to use toppings.  she uses pudding, like sugar free where its better for us adults and the kids.  once the cupcake or cakes are done, just use about 1-2 cups of pudding in the container and add it on top.

That is a good idea. I will have to try that. I have been making mini cakes. I scale the recipe to 4 servings so that my boyfriend and I each have 2 pieces. :) A treat without being too much.
