Do you bury dead animals or trash them ?

I prefer to bury but sometimes wild animals dig them up.  Today I found a dead cat under my deck,really wanted to bury the lil guy but all the maggots crawling on him and the smell had me dry heaving. Had to spray him with bu killer to get rid of the maggots(eyes,nose mouth...) it was a horror show !! I had to wear gloves and a mask and bags to keep them from crawling on me,then tuck my pant legs in my shoes.   Eating my  macaroni salad was a lil nauseating after that.  Once I see all the maggots gone I'm going to try another burial with heavy rocks on top and around him in the ground.

I have all my dogs cremated , horses buried , or given to the sled dog people depending how the horse dies.  Some people think i'm nasty for giving my horses to mushers ! I think if it goes to a rendering plant its going to end up in dog food any way.  Why pay to have it put down , they come take care of it all.  Costs lots a cash to put a horse down an bury it, and some places its against the law to bury them.

If you put moth *bleep* in the hole while burying the animal it might help.  I've heard that a lot but never did it.  We have our animals cremated.

I have a pet cemetery in my backyard. so sad, I tell my kids to put me there as well.

My pets get buried. Other dead animals I put in field behind our house so the turkey vultures have something to eat...or any other animals that eat carrion.

I know people who have cremated their animals after they died. It is just a way they stay close to the animal

I've done both:  Cremate and bury them.

First animal I ever buried here was a Midget  kitten I found who was cut by something,she was suffering and all her blood was becoming puss,she died right after I found  her.Cleaned her up,wrapped her in a hand towel,put her in a shoebox and buried.

We had our last dog cremated.  We had him for 16 years and he was like a part of our family.  All of our other animals were buried when they passed away.

My past animals have been buried. I currently have a peek-a-poo and boxer - really considering cremation for both.

I don't have any pets so don't have to worry about this but if I did they would get buried.

All of our dead pets are buried in the back lot of my in-laws house. It's a regular pet cemetery.

My pets will always be cremated. We have the ashes of three dogs in our house.

On a side note, I've seen maggots crawling in and out of the skin of a live dog. I thought they only fed on dead flesh.
