Yep!  On 7/11 the 7-Eleven convenience stores give away free small Slurpees, the iconic frozen drink introduced in 1965.  It's going on now (11:00am to 7:00pm), but don't procrastinate because the Slurpee machine may run dry before 7:00 pm.

I like to get the word out because the original 7-Eleven store started out as a frame ice house storefront where Johnny Green could supply the neighborhood with a 25-pound block of ice for 11¢ back in 1927 at convenient hours as well as a few staples like milk, cheese and bread.  It became the site of the original 7-11; the building is still located across the street from my junior high school.  After I graduated from college my first job was at its headquarters, then known as The Southland Corporation, and run by the Thompson family.

Enjoy and slurp away!

My sister told me about this. She got one for her and her daughters. There is not a 7/11 where I live though in Louisville.

We don't have one very close, at least 20 miles away.

We have plenty of them, so I had a few on 7/11. What was even better for me, was they had Big Bite hot dogs for $1 (they are a full meal) including all the trimmings like, chili, cheese, salsa, onions and I ate two of them for lunch along with my Slurpy.

I missed it.   Bummer .. I remember getting slurpees in my teens.  We still have a few 7-11's close by but I prefer Wawa.
