:bunny:   :cat:   :dog: I still check the date's on food items at the grocery store. I've seen a few items that has past it's date, items that have been skipped during the items check from the employees. I shop for what I need this way I don't return any food items.  :bunny:   :cat:   :dog:

Employees do not go thru and check dates on stuff on the shelves.  They are suppose to rotate and put the new stock in the back of the shelf so it somewhat gets rotated. But people tend to rearrange shelves. Canned foods are not going to sit on the shelf til they are passed the date.  Milk most people root thru and get the latest dates anyway.

Yes, I have worked part time for a while in a store where my job is just to go through shelves and pull out items that are past their date.  So yes most grocery and pharmacies have people who just check expiration dates.

I would return the item that is bad. But to avoid returning items that are bad I look for the expiration date first and I go toward the back of the cold case to avoid getting and item that seems to be warm.

I would return if it's more than a few bucks.  I've only had a problem a few times, though, so I've never felt the need to deal with it.

I take stuff back unless it's a small item that didn't cost over a couple of dollars.  I seldom have to return stuff but a few years ago it seemed like I was returning stuff every few weeks.  Not sure what was up with that.

I used to be an avid shopper at Kroger. They had been the most well known store that everyone went to. We would shop for all our groceries. I've noticed that since switching management teams, hiring the wrong people, and the general cleanliness of the store, it's quality went to poor. I was shopping and looked up to the ceiling. They just repainted the store, remodeled, and everything. So, I looked up and all the way from the meat department to the dairy department was mold. And I mean, not just a little spot of mold. It was festering mold. Growing big and black. That's when I decided no longer to shop at Kroger.

I asked for Publix to come here. All the other stores are expensive and quality of food is sub-par. Walmart is sub-par.

I've had to take back more than one item because it was being bad or old. Moldy.

I rarely return any items to the grocery store. However, if I was in that situation, I would honestly discard the item (if it was perishable food). Not worth my time, no matter the cost.

We always return stuff to the grocery store, even if the item is inexpensive. It prevents the same thing from happening to other people and keeps the store on its toes.

I'll definitely return an item if it's bad. No point in wasting money.
