I am lucky enough to have both.  I have a set yearly salary but also get paid hourly for my overtime.  Guess it pays to be a non-exempt employee

I am salary; don't have to punch time clocks or worry about getting 40 hours in. I work WAY more than 40 hours  but I feel like I can come and go without worry.

I want paid by the hour. I was offered a job that was salary recently but the more he talked the more I realized it was a rip off.  He wanted me to work 11 hours a day for $100 a day. LOL I was like- uh NO.  And 6 days a week with Saturday being no pay.  So it was apx 65 hours a week for $500.  Far as I know he is still looking for somebody. It sounds like a good deal until you get to adding up the hours you have to work.

I have done both.  My last job which I retired from was salary.  It has it's ups and downs especially if you work for the government.  If we worked overtime, we had to take the time off.  They didn't pay for overtime.

I've only had hourly jobs.  Or salaried "gigs".  I've never been on a salary before.  I think I"m better of as an hourly wage worker.  I would have a hard time walking away from my work if I had a choice.  I love what I do and putting in extra time would be rewarding...albeit not financially the smartest way to use my time.

worked both. I think it depends for what position/jobs you have. Like at work its  better to be a department manager hourly paid and get overtime rather than a co-manager of the place worked almost 10 hours a day without overtime.  At the end the hourly manager got more money.

:menorah:  :santa:  :snowflake:  I've mostly have worked hourly jobs. Which seems strange, but while working the same hours per week turns into a salary job, when the paychecks are the same amount.  :menorah: :santa:   :snowflake:

I have worked booth, but the last 15 years is Salaried job, but they divide the payment by hour, and pay overtime if I need to stay, mind you that does not happens often but when it does is very nice.  I think that depends on the type of job and the company.  Hourly jobs are good pay for retailers, restaurants and stores that have schedules, and salary jobs, most of the times, are better for Companies that have office jobs.

What do you mean you had to take the time off?  Salary means you get paid a set amount per week or month. No matter how many hours you work.

That doesn't make sense.
