My living room area has no windows so "yes" I do put it on during the afternoon when I need it.  The sun shine from my kitchen window to the living room + the door when its open but its not enough to light up the space.

I have a light on over the desk, all the time it is dark in my corner.

I am very conservative when it comes to energy consumption. I only put on the light when I absolutely have to. Otherwise, if it is bright outside, I open the blinds and let nature's light in!

I will put the living room light on when I am practicing at my synthesizer.  I need a little extra light so I can see which way my arpeggios are going.  LOL. :silly:

There is not much natural light in our home so we sometimes have lights on.  Sometimes there are reasons other than my arpeggios.   :)

I too also use the natural light as long as I can.  I try to wait until after the sun sets to turn on any lights.  I am constantly yelling at others in the house to turn them off.  No need for them during the day unless it is storming and black outside.

If it was not for my spouse opening the blinds, I would leave them closed all the time and put on a lamp. I like to see the sun when I am outside only. :peace:

I try to use natural light as long as I can. That reminds me in high school I had a teacher who took my suggestion to turn off the fluorescent lights and open the windows and we often had the whole class that way. She agreed natural light was less headachey.

We never had the shades closed in any classroom unless we were watching a film then maybe they would close them.

But the light from the windows in the classroom was not enough to see well enough to to class work.

I only use lights when I need them.  I adjust the blinds during the day as needed.

I virtually never use the lights you turn on during the day. I don't have the money to waste on a higher electric bill when for me the sunlight coming thru the blinds will do just fine. I prefer the natural light which is less harsh in my opinion than the light from my table and desk lamps in my room. The only reason for me to turn a light is either in basement where the lights are tiny and don't let much sunlight in or when it's overcast and gloomy during the daytime.

I do not like lights, in general.  When I get up in the morning with my granddaughter, she wants to turn lights on.  My husband turns lights on.  They hurt my eyes, I turn them off and light a candle.  They turn them on in another room.  When they leave the room I turn them off.  I'm always turning lights off.

I prefer the natural light during the day.  I believe in not wasting electricity so indoor lighting is used as needed.
