Halloween

I love Halloween and this time of year. Plan on taking the kids trick or treating.

I love Halloween and enjoy Dia de los Muertos. Muertos seems to be an interesting way of remembering loved ones that have passed. As far as the religious arguments, I prefer to not respond or judge, and keep an open mind. I met a young lady at work who practices Wicca who was saddened by the double standard with which her religion is treated versus the treatment afforded to larger scale religious movements. It does not pay to argue with obsessive people or give them the attention they seek as they will warp sources of argument (such as the bible) or quote from their own sources (tenants of their religion). I have a satisfying warmth in my soul, believe that my place in Heaven is secure (not subject to volume restrictions) and do not push my beliefs on anyone. I used nine of my electives, in college, to study various religions in the world which was extremely interesting, decompressing after heavy loads of core classes and helped me find my beliefs. Kind of sad when people are turned away by someone who is too obsessive. I have a sister in law who is no longer welcome in our house because she did not honor my request to not live pamphlets/propaganda or her version of the bible around our young impressionable children. This was the main reason but she also used the church to get contracts (signing the word of her lord to deaf people) and never declared any of the income so that she could displace people in government aid programs (section eight, food stamps., etc)

I have some candy ready to hand out to kiddos who stop by.  This is the first Halloween for us in our new location so I don't know how many to anticipate. 

I do know that our town does a "Trunk or Treat" down on Main Street each year.  This has really made the number of Trick or Treaters in the evening go down.

I understand what you are saying,but could i ask in a kind way,there are many relgeons in the world right?And many have different beliefs,such as teaching of the trinity,is Jesus God,does man have an immortal soul etc.

They ALL cant be right correct?And what right does man have in deciding how the TRUE God wants to be loved or served?Its like your child telling their parents whats good and bad.

So to those that support the bible is it wise to take religeous teachings and compare them to what bible says and do we view Jesus as Gods son and feel he came into the world to expose truth as he told Pontious Pilate?

And then you have atheists who dont support the bible and if you do it will be an endless debate.But if the supporter of the bible continues it to just be right are they really glorifying and obeying God?

I just wanna add 1 more thing and again i support bible to say this.The bible reveals that the TRUE God of the bible doesnt wanna share his glory with pagan gods.So if something like Halloween originated with a pagan god how do you think he would feel?Obviously against it.So my next question i guess we all need to answer is does he have the right to feel that way?

Well if our life depended on him what do you think?You didnt wanna be sent to your room without dinner if you disobeyed your parents right?

The strong intention of man wanting to decide good and bad for himself is why the world is in the state its in.Precisely why God has allowed it to so no one can throw it up to his face and say you never gave us a chance to decide good and bad.It has been a total failure and NO one can argue that.Plus to understand what God allowed Jesus to go thru to buy back the sin A&E made showed both their love beyond extreme.We need to ask,do we appreciate that or do we wanna eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die?

My youngest is 14 now, so we only get to go if my grandkids do. It all depends on the weather. We don't do house to house anymore. We have quite a few trunk-or-treats and the kids make off like bandits!  More safe, as it is mostly local businesses that come to these things and local radio stations.  They have the parking lot all decked out in Halloween decor and have kids costume contests/awards for different age groups. It's really neat!

First off, welcome to the forum!

I just want to say Drutts is not representative of actual Christians who celebrate Jesus birth & Resurrection and don't have an issue with Halloween. He's actually a Jehovah's Witness who has already been banned under the name Hitch for his antagonistic behavior towards those who don't agree with him. But he keeps coming back under different names and apparently FC has washed their hands of trying to keep him away.

As a Christian myself, I just wanted to make it clear that he wasn't representative of our beliefs.   

 

HI very nicely put! i agree not all ppl are like that but, they are there, i've dealt with ppl like that in all different kinds of religion. which is why i try to stay away from those topics but i couldnt resist the urge to comment back and then realized what a mistake that was!  ppl like that are better off to be ignored. i would be happy to report him! no problem with that!

If any man shall add unto these things God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy God shall take away his part out of the book of like, and out of the holy city and from the things that are written in this book.

You need to read the whole Bible and not just pick and choose which verses you want to believe and the ones that make you feel good.  It is a sad sad life you have.  You bully people on the internet.  Screaming at them and calling them names.  Seems like I remember you telling me you were God's right hand man.  Well you have to know him to be anything to him and you clearly do not.

It is hilarious how you refer you yourself as we and us. Now come back at me telling me how you are right at I am wrong.  I can quote the Bible as well.
