I never knew that there was a Day like this either. Thanks for letting us know about it. It is always comforting to Donate to those in need. Especially around the Holidays.

I am donating way less than I usually do this year because with the new tax laws, my donations turn out to have zero impact in any way that is helpful come tax time. They used to afford me a deduction but they don't anymore.

I heard about it on the news for the first time.  I have been home sick all week but I give throughout the year anyway.

I haven't heard of it.  I don't think I would participate just for a day of giving.  LOL  sometimes I feel like giving on a Saturday or Wednesday.  Hate to locked into a routine.  LOL

I heard about on the news and many shopping sites were donating when you placed a order and you did not even to have to donate.  I placed a couple of orders last night and 2 of the sites donated 10% of my purchase.

Never heard of it.  All this naming days is stupid anyway.  I have started really looking at charities lately.  Check online and see how rich the CEO of said charity is before you donate to it. I have learned some things lately that have really changed what I give money too.  To avoid a fight I am not going to post any thing specific on here. Just research before you donate to any cause.

I almost always check out the stats on certain chariites as there are few sites which will break down how much actually goes to the cause.  However, I also give a little money locally and to long-standing charities where I feel the cause is very important, such as the Alzheimer's Association.

I donate to various organizations throughout the year especially those organizations that help people in my area.  I am always donating to the local food banks.  I made extra donations yesterday to a couple of worthy organizations.
Have a wonderful day!

It sounds like you're donating for the wrong reasons.  ::)

I didn't partake in Giving Tuesday, I give all through the year in many different ways.  I think it is a great idea to get people to focus on doing for others, if only for that one day -- it may be the spark that motivates people to do more for others, or just for society in general.

I wasn't aware of it being a special day for sharing either.  I had an ophthalmology appointment, my husband and I ate at a Chinese restaurant and shopped at Costco.  None of these places had any signs regarding Giving or Donating.  Is this "Giving Tuesday" a new thing?

Seems like every year they come up with a new name for a day surrounding Black Friday.   All the need now is a name for Wednesday and they have the whole week.  It starts with Thanksgiving.  That use to be a day to spend with family and be thankful.  Now it is a day to fight with strangers and try to get all the best deals.

I think the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year -- something like that.  The whole week covered..  lol

Add me to the list of people who never heard of it before this year. We do monthly collections at my church that I help facilitate and participate in and I usually get myself a stack of one dollar bills around Thanksgiving that I use specifically for the Salvation Army red kettles over the next month (I usually carry no cash on me anywhere).

I think it is great to remind people to give if they are able, but I'm not sure if "Giving Tuesday" is the right way to go about it. If it turns into a vehicle to shame people into giving then I am 100% opposed to it.

So you only donate to get a tax break?  uh okay.

I heard about on the news and many shopping sites were donating when you placed a order and you did not even to have to donate.  I placed a couple of orders last night and 2 of the sites donated 10% of my purchase.

In that case, YOU, are not donating anything.  The company you order from did.  That 10% they donated came from them not you.  People tend to do just enough to make themselves feel good.  You have to be careful anymore because too many things are a scam.  Or like I said before, look at the CEO salary.  If the CEO is a millionaire then it is not a good organization to give to.  I have stopped supporting a couple because they people who run the outfit are millionaires or more.  So you are supporting THEM not the cause.
