I think it's a great idea but why limit the doll collection? Shouldn't every one have the chance to buying it anytime anywhere.

I just think the whole thing is stupid.  I never, once, gave a thought to whether a doll looked like me or not.  It was just a doll!  It wasn't a real thing.  A toy.  Never saw it as anything more or less than than.

I honestly think it’s a great idea.  Thankfully I have never lost a limb, but two bouts of cancer and losing my hair is enough.  If you are fortunate enough to have never gone through losing hair it’s a traumatic experience, even as an adult I can only imagine how bad and scary it is to a little girl.  Give her a Barbie with no hair and it will look like her and she won’t think there is no one else who looks like her.  I am not a vain person in the least but to watch your hair completely fall out is something I can’t explain the feeling.  Yes there are wigs, and I had 7, but that’s not the same.  I think this is a great idea for little girls.

I agree with you.  I think it is wonderful that they are trying to be inclusive so that all children can relate and have a doll that looks something like them.  People can be quite nasty when a child has a condition and anything that makes the child feel somewhat better or relatively "normal" can't hurt.

People are nasty or can be nasty whenever they see anyone that looks different.  I don't think any kid actually relates to Barbie.  I don't know why anyone would care one way or the other.

Keep in mind that selling Barbie is a business and I doubt if they read this forum for input. In fact they spend a fortune doing research on what they need to do to make money.

I do not understand why "this Barbie" is a point of contention!  Here are three dolls that should be restricted!
1) Oreo Barbie?
2) pregnant?
3)Hitler

I haven't seen one of those bald Barbie dolls yet, but I think it's a great idea to have such a doll for children undergoing cancer treatments. It should help the kids with the psychological challenge they face, not to mention the physical.

It's like a specific car on the highway, all of a sudden all you see is that make of car!

Just lookin' around and this one popped out!  Does anyone have a special "Barbie" moment?

Barbie Inspiring Women Series Katherine Johnson Doll

"Katherine Johnson Barbie"   doll wears a pink dress with white collar, pleated skirt, and belt. Shiny black high-heels, glasses, ID badge, pearl earrings and necklace complete the vintage ensemble. Includes doll stand and Certificate of Authenticity.

NASA Mathematician and Physicist, USA
Black Label
Designer: Kelley Lindberg
Release Date: February 19, 2018
Barbie recognizes all female role models. The Inspiring Women Series pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules, and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before. While growing up in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Katherine Johnson displayed an intense curiosity and an extraordinary brilliance with words and numbers alike. As a child prodigy, she entered high school at 10 years old and graduated summa *bleep* laude from college when she was just eighteen with two Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and French. In the mid-1950s, she joined a pool of African-American women hired by NASA to work as human computers. Katherine calculated the trajectory of NASA’s first American-manned flight into space. Her flawless calculations helped ensured that the Apollo astronauts landed and returned safely from their voyage to the moon. Her figures were so consistently accurate, that when NASA switched to computers, they had Katherine double-check the accuracy of the results. The Barbie Inspiring Women Katherine Johnson doll celebrates the achievements of a pioneer who broke through barriers of race and gender. Like the trajectories she calculated, Katherine’s contributions inspire young people to excel in mathematics and science, and to reach for the stars.

A lot of my barbies were bald by the time I got through cutting their hair when I was young.
Have a wonderful day!

I think that it is a great idea too. I think that everyone should be able to buy a Bald Barbie to remind those who do not have Cancer that it does not desciminate.
