Got Scammed

Answered a call supposedly from Comcast who I have been a customer for a long time and they said they needed to fix a security problem I didn't know I had. They had me download a program then got in my computer, locked it up, and threatened me but I asked them where they were from the guy said I didn't need to know that SO I HUNG UP and unplugged my computer.  They didn't get any money out of me but I had to get new cards and got a new computer to be on the safe side because my other one was old anyway.  Lesson is don't let anybody get in your computer unless you call for that kind of help.

Yeah a lot of fake call scams going around. I get like 15 robocalls a day from people trying to scam me out of money. It's annoying but yeah

I am sorry that happened to you. these scammers have a crazy way of learning how to get it done. My home phone company has a caller id and it identifies spam callers when they try and get through

I get about 10-15 calls a day. I just hang up or don't answer

So sorry you had to go through this, scammers seem to be on overtime! these days. They have nothing better to do then sit around and plan their next act; we just have to be as carefully as we can be.

Wow, so sorry to hear that happened to you. I have caller ID so if I don't recognize the name and number I don't answer the phone.

Do NOT Respond to calls from Apple, Microsoft, ETC. They will screw up your computer or phone! It is a SCAM!

Even if you do call make sure you know who you are calling.  I tried to call McAffee and I don't think that is who I got - my sons are always telling me make sure you are getting a real site.  I am so sick of people with no ethics or morals and I do believe it is getting worse each day.  Sorry this happened to you but it was good of you to post this to warn your fellow members.

Wow! I can really see how easy it was for you to fall for that one! So glad to hear you ended up not giving them any money and that you needed a new computer anyhow so you could ditch the one the scammers got into. Good for you!

Got two calls last week from Microsoft telling me computer was at risk.  Hung up on the one right away.  Was rushing and did not look at the caller ID or I never would have answered it.

I never answer calls even from companies I deal with.  I let them leave a message and I never download either because that's how these scammers make a living and it almost take an act of congress to get your information straightened out.
