Mask or no mask
« on: April 01, 2020, 09:42:44 pm »
Do you wear one?  There's a lot of confusion going around as to whether "healthy" people should wear masks.   I think they are just saying not to wear them that so people in the medical field can have them. I don't care what anyone says I wear one.  I already had masks at home. It might not be the N95 but it's something. I'm not taking any chances.

I wasn't wearing a mask when all this craziness started but I'm wearing one now when I know I'm going to be in contact with other people.

I am wearing a mask but not one like the healthcare workers are using.  I am wearing one that a friend of my daughter made.  It seems to be fairly good as she put a filtering material sandwiched between the top and bottom layers of fabric.

I've been wearing a mask when I go out. Surprisingly, I haven't seen a lot of people wearing them.

Several of my past clients, now good friends, are doctors and nurses that hang with my kids all seem to agree that the masks are good for reminding you not to touch your face and that is about it. Medical staffing friends have indicated that if you are wearing masks that cover your entire head and have oxygen feeds you can decrease your chances of contracting the virus (or hazmat suits). I am pretty disciplined and able to keep from touching my face between hand washing and rounds of hand sanitization. Social distancing has minimized my contact with other humans to the point that I am only out of the house two times per week and rarely see people out when I do exit my house. My wife and I have been doing two to three virtual happy hours per week which have been hilarious.

No I don't wear a mask and I haven't seen more than a handful of people around here wearing one.  I do wear gloves though.

I have not been wearing a mask or gloves and haven't seen a lot of others wearing them either. The ones that do wear them are usually the older folks, which is good. I'm not too worried about catching it, but I'm doing my best to avoid spreading it. I don't really go anywhere since there's nowhere to go anyway. But the weather has been nice, so I've been spending time outside. I've seen a lot of people online complain that there are too many people outside and they should all stay indoors. But I think people need exercise and sunshine (vitamin D) to boost their immune systems, especially when everyone is so stressed out right now. You can still go outside, just keep your distance from others.

I have worn a mask to cut grass even before this started because I don't like all the sneezing afterwards but I don't wear one out in public.

I have not been wearing one, but I think I will start I found a youtube video on how to make them yourself with a bandanna and hair ties, I will probably add some sort of filter to it need to see what, I think is better than nothing, my daughter works for  pediatricians office and said she could probable get us one, but rather they keep them for themselves.  I did asked her to get a couple for the kids, my grand babies do not leave the house but better have them in case.

I heard on the news that they are thinking on make them mandatory, and suggesting that you should cover yourself even if it is with an scarf.

over the last week i have really wanted a mask.Just a fabric one . A friend made one for me. I know the mask won't stop the virus from going through because the mask isn't sealed but i have a disability and walk with 2 canes. Therefore if i sneeze or cough i can't cover my mouth when walking. The mask can prevent others from being scared of getting sick. i would never go out if i thought i was sick. However, people do cough and sneeze for other reasons.
The mask might also protect me from other viruses going around and help me keep my hands away from my face.
i also wear disposable gloves every time i go out. :rose: :rainbow: :peace:

I haven't worn one yet but the CDC is now advising it.  I wonder how hard it is going to be to find any???
Have a wonderful day!
