That depends on your experience. I you are confident I would start looking in Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and local classifieds. Otherwise try Carmax or local dealers you trust. When you find one, it would help to have someone look at it for you or even have it inspected.

I'm in the same boat but it's wishful thinking. I don't have $5000 for a used car only 2 years younger than the 1998 LeSabre.  Prices on used cars with low mileage are outrageous and those will high mileage are scary. We bought the LeSabre back in 2009 with 77K miles on it. We now have 125K on it and we have to unhook the battery  if we aroing going anywhere. Another car with an electrical system problem. No PW anymore. No radio, AC, clock, you name it. Have heat. I love that car. So comfortable and fun to drive when I could drive.  Heading for the graveyard now. :(

Who is heading for the graveyard, you or the car? I bought an old 1993 Jeep Grand Wagoneer a couple years ago that had over 200,000 miles on it, but it still gets me where I want to go (which is nowhere now days).

Go to Toyota for a great used car. They last forever! Ok its my opinion but we have a Toyota Tundra that is 2005 and although we arent driving it much anymore it has almost 300,000 miles on it and still runs perfect! We only use it to haul trash to our dumpster. We love that truck!

I would just look around and search online and find which vehicle is best for you.

Are you going to the car dealer now? I am also thinking of buying a car, but unsure if I should start the process during the lockdown.

Car sales are slow right now, so the dealers are motivated to close sales by offering better deals. It all comes down to how well you can negotiate.

So true,oldbuddy...when you do go look just take hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.... they say they are sanitizing cars, etc, but better safe than sorry.... also look at their cars online as much as you can and then call and set a time to see the cars you like.... it will help your chances of them sanitizing those cars... good luck in your search

I usually look around for the for sale signs on the cars. Right now people need some extra funds and are most likely selling their cars for a quick pocket full of cash. Good luck in your hunt. don't forget to call your local scrap yard and see what they will give you for the car. it should be something in your pocket

It can be significant for the right vehicle. A few years ago I was paid $700 for my Ranger 4X4 Pickup after a tree flattened the cab to the floor. My son was visiting a friend at his University and they were walking back to the truck when they saw it happen. Very fortunate timing.

The car is heading to the graveyard. I have no intention of moving anywhere for the next 30 years or so. :D  All our cars start with below 100K miles and we keep them until they give us a problem every week. This Buick has been good to us until a couple months ago, whereas our '93 Olds, can't remember it's model, but it was the biggest one they made, gave us electrical problems when it reached the over-100K mark.
