None of them should have been let out. If masks work then just give them a mask. If they refuse to wear and are destined to get "the virus" let them get it and die. Oh wait, there is a 98% chance they will recover.   This is not the first time this has happened.  There have been numerous other reports where someone let out of jail for cov fears immediately committed a crime. Then they want to jail someone who has never broke the law in their life - for not wearing a mask.

I agree with countrygirl that the prisoners should not have been released.  Protective measures like masks should be provided to them just like protective equipment is provided to essential workers at my job.....

I read that, it's a disgrace what is happening to our justice system, or lack of justice system rather.

So heartbreaking, & is just increasing people wanting to arm themselves.

He shouldn't have been released! They should be reviewing inmates records before releasing due to COVID-19. That could have been prevented. That was very ill responsible on that jail/prison part

I never understood releasing prisoners early.  You were given a sentence and you should serve it.  I think besides it being a sad situation I think what happened is a disgrace

Not one prisoner should be freed because of covid19.  No one told them to commit crimes and get locked up.

I don't support the idea of releasing prisoners because of the Covid virus especially if they have committed certain crimes that could result in other people getting hurt again.

I didnt see this story.Am i to understand the prisoner killed the woman he raped?

IOW he got revenge for going to jail from her?

Either way its sad and i wonder how long his sentence was on the rape?

Reminds me of a George Carlin logic.He said in the city its a $50 fine for spitting on the sidewalk.Vomiting was FREE.

OMG that is awful. I understand the virus is dangerous so is a rapist going free. Maybe they could of decided something more safe for everyone. The poor women didn't deserve to die ya.

I live in the area and it is heart breaking.  I do not understand why let dangerous people out of prison because of the virus? Take better care of the facilities and leave them in there, I do not wish dead on people but hey they are in there, most of the times, because of their own choices so, stay there.  Authorities need to think better when it comes to releasing prisoners.

That poor girl and her family, so, so sad
