Army Power Nap
« on: October 02, 2020, 09:56:47 am »
Just heard on the news, the US Army encourages the power nap. My power nap, even falling asleep watching tv, then wake up 15 minutes later I am strong again. I was so sleepy I thought I would stay asleep for all night. Do you power nap, is it good or bad feel for you?  my naps

I can't take naps. It takes me too long to fall asleep, and when I do eventually fall asleep, I feel horrible when I wake up. That's why they invented caffeine, I guess - for people like me. Lol

If I am tired, I can take a five minutes power nap and wake truly refreshed. However, If I nap longer than that it will cause problems when I try to go to sleep at night also it will make me feel more sluggish than when I started the nap.

I can't power nap. I've tried and waking up 15 minutes later is annoying. I was comfortable sleeping and now I gotta wake up and do something. I'm not refreshed but I do feel less tired though, if that accounts for anything.

My husband is in the Air Force and he takes power naps. He can sleep soundly not hearing the jets flying over at all.

NOT me, if I wake up before my 2 hour nap, I feel like Ive been up 24 hours

I have to be careful of power naps even though they are supposed to be short term.  I have chronic insomnia and they can interfere with my sleeping at night.  However, if I have slept poorly for several nights in a row, sometimes you just can't help yourself.  It is somewhat difficult for me to sleep during the daytime though.

I find that if I take one of those power naps, I am unable to sleep through the night afterwards. The naps throw my sleep schedule way off, so I just don't take them at all any more.

I haven't had luck with naps in the past. A number of my friends and relatives love power naps, 15-30 minutes, and said that it was very helpful for them to rejuvenate during the day especially in early afternoon. I want to give it a try as I sleep poorly especially nowadays.

If I take a power nap it is not by choice, they just happen and I feel better afterward. Most of my daily naps last a lot longer, like 2 or 3 hours and I have them just about every day.

I just got up from one and try to take naps everyday and really enjoy them.  I try not to go down after 4pm because I can't sleep thru the night long but anything before that and it's refreshing.

Love me some naps. However, I don't know about power naps. I don't get it. Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

I understand - and have experienced - the difference between a power nap and a regular nap. But what I don't understand or cannot voluntarily control is how to force my body to take a power nap as opposed to a regular nap. For me, experiencing a power nap is like rolling the dice and hoping for the best. I may get lucky or I may pay the price. Rather than take a risk on waking up and feeling much worse, I prefer to not take the chance and just push through. I still nap on occasion, but it is rarely with the 'power' intention.

I nap several times a week, sometimes they are power naps and sometimes just regular.

This makes sense, especially when you're putting a lot on your body and mind.
