Peeling eggs? Try this.
« on: October 05, 2020, 03:12:54 pm »
I just got something off the internet that actually worked for me so I wanted to share.

For peeling your boiled eggs:

Put your eggs into a steamer/strainer into a boiling water bath with one-inch of boiling water. Cover and cook for 13 minutes. Immediately after cooking, drain off the hot water and submerge the eggs in cold water (I use ice water) in a covered storage container and let stand for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes, empty out half the water from the container, close and shake the container 40 hard shakes. The eggs will peel easily. No; really! :star: Try it.

I've never heard of that before. I love hard boiled eggs so I'm going to definitely try that. Thank you for sharing!

I will have to try this method.   I hate it when the eggs don't peel easily.

My favorite way of peeling eggs.   Get those plastic egg things I forget what they are called.  You put your raw egg in it with out the shell and boil the eggs in them then you have a hard (boiled)egg already to go.   It sometimes is hard to get the egg out and have it still look good.  But no peeling.

I have seen this advice online some time ago and have tried it myself. It is very helpful if I need to peel a big number of eggs. It has been quite effective when I tried it.

The whole trick is to get the cold water under the cracked shell :)

Another tip I found useful is do NOT use super fresh eggs, let them sit in the fridge for a week or two before boiling.
