Food Bowl Basics
« on: November 03, 2020, 08:54:36 am »
There are so many bowls in the freezer section any more. Green Giant, Healthy choice, Cedar Lane, Amy's etc. Here are some tips on these fairly quick and healthy options.

1. Veg Out: The healthiest diets have about 10 (half cup) servings of fruits and vegetables a day.  (I surely don't have this much.  Do you?) So slice up a veggie or toss a salad while the microwave is doing its thing.

2. Don't overcook.  Start with the low end of the cook time.  Once broccoli gets mushy, there's no going back.

3. Be patient.  If the instructions say to let your microwaved bowl sit for a minute before digging in, do it.  It helps hot spots dissipate and your food finish cooking.  I am guilty of not letting it sit much!

4. Mix it up!  Don't see the sauce.  Check the bottom.

5. Make it yours.  If your bowl needs a little something, try ground pepper, a few drops of hot sauce, a squeeze of fresh lemon, or a dollop of plain Greek yogurt.  Really, it's about whatever you like. I've tried the yogurt and the lemon.  Not bad!!!

I have not tried any of these food bowls, nor heard of them really.  So, I googled Healthy Choice Food Bowls....I was pleasantly  pleased by the variety available.  I may have to try them soon.

It is amazing at my local Meijer how many food brands are bringing out not only healthier versions but also ethnic food.  There is a real variety!  I have not even heard of a few of the ethnic choices. Some I want to try; others, not so much!

I just discovered them a few weeks ago and love them.  I can’t remember the brand, but it was chicken low mein and it was so good!  They are quick to make and so far all have been delicious .  I usually make a side salad to go with it.

I love food bowls! The best part about them is how versatile they are. These are all great points!
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I have not tried any but any food can be doctored up for individual taste.  I use a lot of garlic but am not a fan of spicy foods.
