Clean install, activation disappeared
« on: October 27, 2025, 03:06:27 pm »
I performed a clean install to remove bloatware and now Windows won’t activate even though it was activated before. I used the same Microsoft account and signed into the machine during setup. The activation troubleshooter suggests contacting support but I’d prefer self-service first. I also still have the old system image saved on an external disk. What practical steps can I take to reactivate legally before calling Microsoft support?

Sometimes a clean install can confuse the activation system especially if the hardware ID or digital license was tied to the previous setup. In such cases logging into your Microsoft account usually helps but if it did not work you can try using the kms pico method that many users discuss to understand how key management activation operates. Still you should first check if your device is listed under activated hardware on your Microsoft account page and use the troubleshoot option again before reaching out to support.
