Off-Topic / What good books have you read lately?
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:31:07 am »Message ID: 1075951
Looking for a good summertime read? Well, yes I am.  I just finished two that were really good.  Georgia Bottoms (very funny and a quick read) by Mark Childress and The Bottoms (sort of in the line of To Kill A Mockingbird but set in the 1930's in East Texas) by Joe R Lansdale.  Love to hear your recommendations!

Off-Topic / Phrases that no longer have meaning
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:04:46 am »Message ID: 1075938
Recently a co-worker (obviously young) asked musingly, Why do they call it dialing the phone? Gosh, how old I felt when I explained it to here.  There are a lot of these phrases out there.  Under the dryer, can't go out tonight because I have to wash my hair.  TV Dinner. Writing a letter....who else has one?

Off-Topic / Just have to share
« on: December 28, 2015, 10:03:02 am »Message ID: 1035086
I am so excited and feel I must share the news. My husband just self published his third book and got his website set up.  Hope that people find it on amazon and his website stockportpublishing.com.  It is all pretty exciting for us and the cowboys he writes about.  The new book is Walk Like a Man Bruce Ford Stories ( a five time world champion bareback bronc rider who lost his leg last year.) THey are great little stories.  If you do feel like surfing for the sight, please click like it if you do.  I always hope that people who read with support him and other indie authors because there is a lot of self published lit  out there that is really good.

I love the 3 cent videos but notice that on almost all of them you have to click to start twice before it credits.  The first starts automatically then you have to close and click to start again.  Easy to rack up the pennies this way.  Hope it stays for a while.

Sadly, I don't think I am going to get my 30 posts in this month.....the month just whipped by and I find that I only have a bout 20 done so far.  Have many things to do when I get home and probably won't be able to get back online.  I always promise myself to start early in the month and do 2 or three a day...that would be the easy way! Does anyone else have this problem?

Offers / Daily Videos

I noticed today that most of the 10 best.....videos were not available.   These are the ones that many here at FB said were not working for them.  So, maybe they are fixing them and they will be available later on.  I did get credit for the 10 Best Cruise Line video but it was only a 2 cent video, not the 6 or 10 that the others carried.  Just thought I would mention it.

Off-Topic / Favorite Gadget

Another post was talking about household chores and made me realize how many things are easier today than ever before because of the gadgets and machines we have.  What is your favorite household gadget?  Why is it your favorite (Is it your favorite because it is so cool or because it makes life easier for you?)  Love to hear what that is.  Yes, gadgets in your car count.
One of mine is the GPS....I was forever getting lost and my family laughs about my "concentric circle" method of finding my way around...circle until you find something you recognize.

Off-Topic / Books into MOvies
« on: August 29, 2015, 09:15:52 am »Message ID: 1007359
A lot of recent books have hit the big screen this year.  What book into movie is your favorite.  I have three recent ones.  All have done a pretty good job of getting the story right except for the end of the third one and I will tell you why:

1. Warhorse.  Think this worked into a movie really well.  But the book was a short one and written for the juvenile market so was more action filled to begin with.
2. Water for Elephants.  The book is one of my favorites. I love the ending.  The book was better than the movie but they did a pretty good job of getting the story straignt. It is one of those where the images in my mind were stronger than the screen could provide.
3. Gone Girl.  Loved the book and the movie was pretty good until the end.....somebody would have cleaned her up!  If you see the movie you will know what I mean.

Who made your A list this year?

Off-Topic / Favorite Book

What is the best book you read this year?  Is it different than your favorite book?  I can't remember the title or author of my favorite book (I read it as a child and the stories in it have always stuck with me) but the best book I have read this year is Gone Girl. Really creepy and I wouldn't let my husband read it because I was sure he would never sleep soundly again!  What is your choice?

How long after you get a payment can you post the pic?  I forgot to do mine last time and it has been a couple of months.  I tried to do the paypal snapshot but couldn't get it to work.  Then forgot to try again on a different computer.  Anyone know if there is a time limit?

My husband and I are traveling to the middle of Mexico to celebrate a special event of a family member who lives there.  We have never been there before....any advice on money (take $$$ with us or a cc or travelers checks) or other travel advice? Electricity conversions? Taxis? We are going to a city of about 50K people.

Off-Topic / 1956 Explosion
« on: July 07, 2015, 01:33:01 pm »Message ID: 995230
On the paid to post site for the events of the day, there was an event that said in 1956 there was an explosion of seven trucks of dynamite that killed 1000-1200 people and destroyed 2000 bldg.s.  It wasn't in California, it was in Cali Columbia.  Well, you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

Payments / Checks and other forms of payment
« on: June 03, 2015, 12:18:37 pm »Message ID: 987149
I have always had FC send me a check, except for last month when I did paypal because I thought it would be faster....it wasn't, still 60 days to pay.  I belong to several other survey sites and they all pay much sooner than that.....two of them pay the first of the following week so I never have a long wait.  Does anyone know or have you been given an explanation of why FC takes so long to pay?  Just curious.
