Offers / Do you believe that your past defines who you are as a person today?
« on: December 17, 2013, 05:30:36 pm »Message ID: 829558
I have reasons to ask this question.  There are people in this world who believe that a person's past defines them for life, and I am a living testimonial that it does not.  While it is true that I have done things in my past, I did not define my entire life around it; I defined my own life.  People also believe that you cannot change your life, but I have.  Yet people still want to define me by my past.  I have been married to my husband for two years and a woman I knew back then made the statement that my husband might as well had married her, since he married me.  When the subject came up, he told me about it and I asked him why she would say that.  She did not want him to marry me, but has no control in the matter, since we are both consenting adults.  I also asked him why he didn't want her.  He told me she married a man, they both cheated on each other, and she threw hot water on him to burn him.  The end result was that he almost killed her because of it.  First of all, I will tell you this:  if I have to do something that heinous, I wouldn't want to be  in a relationship at all.   I wouldn't want a man if I had to be that silly to prove a point.  What is your take on it? :bad: :peace:

Off-Topic / Business Card Transcription in Tasks
« on: November 21, 2013, 07:45:41 am »Message ID: 820356
I went into Tasks on FC and found the Business Card Transcription, which pays 1 cent for every 10 lines transcribed.  It really works.  I have made $1.25 in three days.  It is a quick way to make your money.  It does not credit to Crowdflower.  It is no biggie, because I like this task.  It cashes out and renews after you have reached 40 cents or more.  Just wanted to pass the word around.   :highfive:

Off-Topic / It is cold as all getout outside
« on: November 14, 2013, 07:09:04 am »Message ID: 818020
I awakened this morning to find that our water had frozen.  It is 23 degrees here, and I live in a house that is 69 years old.  I didn't turn on the faucets and let it drip because I heard the weather and it gave no indication of freezing.  I am sitting in the chair near the windows and it is cold enough to make a person want to stay in the bed under the covers.  How is the weather in your area? :bad: :bad: :bad:

Off-Topic / Michelle Knight, Ariel Castro's first victim, speaks out on Dr. Phil
« on: November 09, 2013, 08:00:54 pm »Message ID: 816286
I watched Dr. Phil both days when he interviewed Michelle Knight, Ariel Castro's first kidnapping victim.  I was awestruck that she was the only one of his three kidnapping victims that he could not break.  Did anyone else see this interview?  It was rather shocking.  She said that when she found out Castro hanged himself in his cell, her view was that he took the easy way out.  What are your thoughts? :o :o :o

Off-Topic / An alligator walking toward Walmart
« on: October 21, 2013, 07:20:35 pm »Message ID: 808397
I heard about the six-foot alligator that walked toward a Walmart on the news.  He walked on the entryway to the front door, and it kept opening and closing.  Employees were able to lock the door before he entered the store.  That, let alone anything else, is too creepy for me and too close for comfort.  I would have freaked out.  What are your thoughts? :o :o :o

Off-Topic / The 9 year old boy who took a flight to Vegas without a ticket
« on: October 09, 2013, 10:04:12 am »Message ID: 803926
On Monday, I heard on the news about the 9 year-old boy who took a flight to Las Vegas without a ticket.  On Wednesday, he boarded the subway to the airport, took someone's luggage, went to the restaurant and left the luggage and a bill.  On Friday, he blended in with a family and boarded the plane and flew to Vegas, where someone noticed he was alone and called authorities.  The airport official said that the boy "had a lot of explaining to do to them and his mom and dad."  I am just wondering:  Where were his parents and did they notice he was missing?  Secondly, the school, I take it, did not notify his parents to their child being absent.  Thirdly, what happened that Security did not notice that this child was in the airport, was scanned and cleared for flight to Vegas until he was busted in Vegas?  It is obvious there is something wrong with this picture.  What is your take on it? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o

Off-Topic / Motorcycle road rage incident in NY
« on: October 07, 2013, 08:08:02 am »Message ID: 803111
I have been hearing about this motorcycle road rage incident that happened in New York.  This morning, I heard that three cops were on the scene of this tragedy and did nothing.  The undercover detective said he witnessed the incident, but said nothing for fear of his identity being known.  They are coming forward now, but said nothing when it happened.  I think they should have the book thrown at them because they did not do their job.  They were hired to serve and protect.  They did nothing while that man was being beat up by the motorcycle gang and nothing while his wife and child was being yanked out of the car.  What happened to our police officers, and what is your take on it? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o

Off-Topic / How would you answer this question?
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:32:35 am »Message ID: 799606
On Friday, I had a call from my brother in-law.  I missed the call and, when I called to see what he wanted, he began by telling me to please answer his question, and not to hang up.  I wanted to know what he was talking about, and I finally got the question, but it was not what I expected.  He asked me what happens when a woman goes through menopause.  My first answer was "Why did you call me?" and then I;  told him that women get dry sometimes and need lubrication.  His response was "You mean to tell me she is not gonna love me anymore?"  I tried not to laugh about it, but trying to explain things to my brother in-law is hard, especially when he is not very diplomatic.  I told him that women experience mood swings, and he said she is doing that now.  Meanwhile, I am hearing my sister in the background saying that he has asked everybody.  She went on to say he had asked her stepmother, his three sisters, and now he was asking me.  I was bursting with laughter, and he told me I ruined his night; my response was that he made my night because I didn't expect this.  My last response to him was to walk on a thin line.  Naturally, I had to explain that, and I told him that he and the boys will get their head bit off doing something silly.  He said she does that already, and I told him it is going to be worse.  The only thing I left out was the fact that women get hot flashes.  So this morning, I am asking if any one has had that experience, and how did they answer the question. ??? ??? ???

Off-Topic / Has anyone ever been to a restaurant where they refused to serve you as a group?
« on: September 21, 2013, 08:53:55 am »Message ID: 796201
I am asking this question because I had two experiences where the restaurant called our company and said they would serve anybody, but not as a group.  We went to Shakey's, a restaurant outside Chicago, and I was amazed that they didn't kick us out.  You have to be considerate of how you act in some places.  We had a woman who was so enamored with the teacher she didn't want anyone saying anything to her.  She told me that and I straightened her out.  We had parents who actually put their hands on the food being served to us instead of using tongs.  I then went as a group to a restaurant where a woman actually brought a brown paper sack and packed up her food to go.  I thought everyone knew that "all you can eat buffet" means all you can eat in there, not carry out.  People should use restaurant etiquette when going to places.  Has anyone experienced anything similar? :o :o :o :o

Off-Topic / Why don't women obey their men?
« on: September 15, 2013, 04:12:10 pm »Message ID: 794337
At church today, the issue of Adam, Eve and the serpent arose.  The agreement was that the serpent tricked Eve into eating the fruit of the Forbidden Tree of Good and Evil.  Also in agreement was the fact that Adam ate the fruit as well.  The argument was that sin was nonexistent until this act was done.  Naturally, my husband asked the question, "Why don't women obey their men?"  I have a possible answer for this question.  If we obeyed men, they would think it is okay to tell us to jump in the lake, and women, obeying the men, would take this to heart and actually jump in, expecting their men to jump in and rescue us.  It is an indication that they would consider us as stupid.  The men who are abusers feel that they have the right to beat us because we don't obey; we are not supposed to have a thought mechanism, because they are supposed to do the thinking for us.  My ex actually told me that God would bless me for helping his friends, but he didn't care about God himself.  Anytime a man tell you that he wants to be buried in his underwear because, where he is going, it is going to be hot, as he (my ex)  did when he told me, you can take it to heart that he is going to hell with gasoline drawers on.  My husband told me that he would beat his first wife and take her money, because he valued other things rather than her or his children.  He gives credit to God for giving him a second chance by showing him the mistakes he made in his first marriage. My grandson is a big part of my life as well as his.  Your take on this? :icon_rr: :female: :male:

Off-Topic / Zimmerman feels he is invicible since he was found not guilty.
« on: September 12, 2013, 07:20:40 am »Message ID: 793113
Since George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the murder of Trayvon Martin, he has gotten this sense of being invincible.  He rescued those people, which I consider to be a good thing.  But lately, he has been doing things that indicate that the man has a problem.  He has been stopped twice for speeding, and his wife has filed for divorce.  Now, his wife has called the police and said he threatened her father with a gun.  She should have called them; he sounds erratic.  If he is not stopped or deterred, his behavior is going to get far worse.  What do you think? :o :o :o :o ???

Off-Topic / Would you marry a person on a prank if you did not love him or her?
« on: September 04, 2013, 06:26:44 am »Message ID: 789641
I discovered last night that my brother married his wife on a prank.  My brother is 45 and has not a clue on being faithful.  At my mother's funeral, he had not 1 woman to show up but 3 women, and none of them knew about each other.  This is marriage #2 for him.  He said he was going to be like his father and have 100 women.  His estranged wife pursued him for 9 years.  The prank began at a card game, where it was suggested that he marry this woman.  My brother was not in love with this woman, but I have no doubt that she loved him.  I said loved him, because he decided to end it after 1 year by writing her a note and left the note in a kitchen drawer.  My question is, would you marry a person on a prank knowing you did not love him or her?  They had a big blown out wedding in August 2010 and he ended it like it was nothing and wasn't even man enough to tell her it was over to her face?  Maybe he feels no shame, but I feel shame for him on so many levels.  As a result, she had a stroke and blames it on my brother.  He has a new girlfriend now, and is pissed off at his father, who told the co-workers of his wife that the new girlfriend is "ugly as homemade sin".  He chose to not speak to him or my sister.  She told me last night that he speaks to her, but talks to everyone else.  I think he is wrong.   Knowing him, it was not love, but lust that he felt.  But I would not marry her on a prank because it backfired big time and hurt her even more than him. :icon_rr: :icon_rr: ???

Off-Topic / Happy 55th Birthday to Me!!
« on: September 03, 2013, 06:26:13 am »Message ID: 789114
I have made it!  I am the big double 5 today.  I feel blessed to still be here.  So many of my classmates and friends are gone.  I awakened this morning thanking God for allowing me to make it this far.  My mother passed away 17 years ago at the age of 55 years, 1 month and 1 week old.  I was then 37, and now I am 55.  My husband wished me happy birthday and so did my grandson.  I went onto my Yahoo account and my Student Advisor wished me happy birthday.  I am expecting good to happen, not bad. Thank you, My Heavenly Father, for allowing me to have another birthday.
