Off-Topic / Re: pray for Falcon9
« on: October 21, 2012, 07:46:29 am »Message ID: 626389
I couldn't resist reading this thread. I was born into a Catholic family, but my parents were not very devoted to mass. I'm grateful I didn't have religion shoved down my throat, or I would not have the awesome relationship I have with the Father in heaven. Fast forward to the 21st century and I married a great guy, but his family is a part of what I consider to be a very unhealthy religious cult by the name of church of christ. I drank the kool aid and converted because I wanted to make him happy and I believed the propaganda about hell. I left after 2 years and I'm very glad I did. I was disfellowshipped by his family, and it became very clear to me that fanatical christians have absolutely no clue what loving your neighbor is all about. I don't consider myself a christian, and with utmost respect, I firmly believe if Jesus had a press conference he would say he is not christian. Now, I still believe in the Holy Trinity and that is my prerogative, but atheists have the constitutional right to believe in nothing. Telling someone you are praying for them so they can see the "light" when he/she has absolutely no interest in religion is offensive. Christians how would you feel if a Buddhist, one of the most peaceful and tolerant people btw, told you they are praying for you because you are desperately lost and in need of some "real" religion? A Buddhist would not do that so that is an entirely hypothetical situation, but the feeling it should evoke is one of indignation. What is interesting is that Christians have murdered innocent people in the name of religion in a desperate attempt to "save" souls. In the end, we do live in a wonderful country, and members of this board need not fear for their lives due to being atheist. I think the respectful position is to politely disagree with those who are trying to convert and move on, but the member who is the focus of the prayers has an inalienable right to be an unbeliever.

Off-Topic / Re: Suing your parents?

These stories scare me. There are parents out there who do the very best they can, and they get diabolical offspring that turn their lives upside down. I don't have kids. I'm getting too old to have one as I'm soon turning 35, but I won't be terribly heartbroken if I never reproduce. If I do reproduce, all I can do is the best I can and hope I won't have an ungrateful child. Children can be evil, and teenagers have brains wired for criminal behavior. Where do the lawsuits stop and we start taking personal responsibility? Kids in foster care are not incredibly successful generally. According to that premise, they should sue the state for not giving them a better chance. How about we start suing teachers too [insert sarcasm here]? Well, little Suzie felt her science teacher did not meet her expectations and now she won't win a Nobel prize when she grows up. Ridiculous. This litigious society is nauseating.

I'm not voting this time around. There really is no point. The economy is on it's knees. China will be our president in time. Nice poem. That would be funny if people voted for the little guy and the popular vote didn't go to either Obama or Romney, but then what will the electoral college do?

Off-Topic / Re: Do you like Netflix

I absolutely love Netflix. We have basic cable and with the money we save not having premium channels, we got the Netflix option of getting 3 movies in the mail and unlimited play now movies. We don't use it as much though, but there are days, especially rainy days, it's a Netflix fest and we have watched the Tudors, Hell on Wheels, The Walking Dead...etc.

I did everything right to have a bright future. Worked hard, went to school at night, then went to graduate school, graduated in the top 5% of my class...yet somehow nothing has gone right. I never partied, hardly went out, didn't do drugs, just worked and went to school. I am pretty disappointed with myself because it was buying a real estate property that later was upside down that destroyed my future.

While Christmas is a commercial holiday, it feels bad not to be able to buy gifts. My family will not buy any expensive gifts this year. It's just the way it is. Those who don't like it and feel less loved, too bad...so sad.

Yes. When I am angry or I stub my toe. I do try not to say bad words in public, but I also often say them when I'm driving. South Florida drivers  >:(

Off-Topic / Re: Walmart, K-Mart or Target, which do you prefer?

I prefer to shop at Target over Walmart, but it's clear that Walmart has the best prices. However, the stuff that I have bought from Target has rusted, broken down, faded very easily. Bad quality I think.

When I was in my 20s, I didn't have a major allergy to milk. It became worse in my early 30s. I can only eat soy pizza now :(, but in my normal pizza eating days I did love Papa John's. I loved the little jalapeno they had on the side too. Growing old is no fun.

Euphoria from Calvin Klein is definitely sublime. I like also Carolina Herrera perfumes. Recently, I bought a perfume called in black. Not very popular but it smells sweet.

I'm allergic to dogs  :crybaby2: Nothing helps though. If I could own a dog, it would be a Siberian Husky as they are so incredibly beautiful.

Because the not so hypothetical entity led her to this site, and has given her the strength and determination to not give up and keep pressing on in a world full of dismissive people. Congratulations on your first payout . I was dubious about this place up until the check cleared. Now I believe. I believe, brother, in a living God and I believe in Fusion Cash.

Debate & Discuss / Re: How To Handle Christian Persecution On FusionCash
« on: October 12, 2012, 04:22:51 pm »Message ID: 621601
We live in a free country (free for those who have money and can say anything like Charlie Sheen). Saying you are persecuted is an exaggeration though. Persecution means having to practice a religion in secret because you are afraid for your life. Engaging in argumentation-persuasion in an anonymous board is simply not persecution. You can choose to take comments against your religion personally or not. I'm not christian. I like to define myself in more modern terms as being spiritual. I do, however, identify most with the Holy Trinity because I grew up Catholic. I'm not practicing, but I still pray and believe. Most importantly, I love the creator of heaven and earth and respect all religions including atheists (the latter will most certainly pray to God if they are about to be eaten by a tiger).
