parents- are you strict?

My son is almost 21 but it was hard for me to correct him because of his grandparents are always trying to tell me what I can and cant do so to my son I was just an older child and what I said it didin't matter.  I told my parents if they have something to say to me on how I am correcting my child than thy need to exspress themselve with out him being able to hear thm.  It was rough because I was he only parent in is life, but if the father was there and we where marrid they wouldn't say a word to us. I always respected those who are older then myself because that is how I was raised but last week with my stepfather that was the last drawl telling me I can't speak with the dad who I love even though I don't believe what he did to my mother and  us the three kids but I still like to know how he is and make sure that he knows I am thinking of him even though I know he doesn' t  think of us.

I've been a mom for over 30 years and my youngest is now 28.  The dominant color of my personality is blue so I was a very nurturing parent; however, sometimes I found that it was necessary to be an authority figure where I set boundries for my children.

That being said, I wasn't strict.  I decided to allow my children free will and fortunately they were both fairly well behaved.
