I've had to replace two laptop chargers in the past, one was when I gave an old laptop to my dad after getting myself a new one.  The other was more recent when the laptop was still my primary computer.  The first one, I think I bought a compatible charger from the local Best Buy for around $40 if I recall (it's been several years ago).  The second one, I ordered directly from Dell online, which was more expensive.

Good luck! They aren't cheap and you cannot function without them.  It sorta makes you miss the old days when all anyone had were desktops and the power cords were all uniform and interchangeable.

Yes I had a cord fried.  I bought one on Amazon.  Forgot how much it was but it was less than $60.  You should also check eBay.

I have bought several over the years and always get them from Ebay for around $10 to $20 with no problems experienced.

I had to replace one charger once, and bought a replacement from eBay. I don't remember what I paid since it was a long time ago but it was less than $60.

The most recent charger I purchased was from Best Buy. It was a universal charger which I'd never tried before, mainly because I thought the whole concept of universal chargers was too good to be true! But, in light of the fact that my new charger is working extremely well for the different brands of laptops each member of our family has, I'm really pleased with my purchase. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but I don't recall it being a surprisingly low of high cost.

Thanks for all who posted and offered suggestions - very much appreciated.  I ended up sending my son to Office depot and spending the $60 I just can't go without my computer.  Otherwise would have ordered online and waited for it to be shipped. Never-the-less I am back in action and happy to be so lol.

I'm sorry to hear your computer charger got fried. That is quite an expensive replacement too, wow. I never would have guessed it would cost that much. Yikes. Good luck with getting that fixed.

Not sure exactly what you mean by 'fried'.  I have had mine stop working since they make them in a way to make sure they won't last.  But mine has been a wiring issue and I fix it myself.

Never been to Office depot for a long time... Didn't like the store since most of the product were overprices... I would find a replacement charger online (either Amazon or Newegg) or a Micro center store... Just know your computer brand and model and you can find a compatible charger
