Doubleday Books Offer??
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:23:52 pm »
See no threads so far on this one. I'd like to join Doubleday club and get a few books for presents, but part of signing up with them is you have to also buy 4 books in the next year, after the free ones.

But I can't see any regular-priced book prices on the website, not before you sign up! Anyone know if the book prices are good?

The prices are not bad, you get the membership discounted price, but the shipping is what costs. Sometimes it's almost as much as the price of the book.

Yes shipping is what hurts but they have some great discounts for members.

As the others said...The books are very well priced and there is a wonderful selection.  The shipping is awful, though.  I once ordered two books and payed a little over $40, 3/4 of that was shipping.

As far as I know, the shipping is $3.99 for the first book and $1.99 for each additional book in the same shipment.
Sometimes they have free shipping or 50% off books/BOGO books.  Depending on the club you choose, after the cashback, shipping, introductory books and fulfilling your obligation, it comes to $5.00 to $6.00 per book.  Not bad at all. Bookspan offers over a dozen different clubs.  Since you get the books rather cheaply, they must make up for some of that in the shipping charges.
