Headers for manual credit requests
« on: November 14, 2007, 10:25:19 pm »
Hi

So I'm reading over how manual credit requests work because I have two offers for $15 that haven't credited yet and it's almost been 7 days.  It says that you need to send the original e-mails (which I have), with headers and it gives a link that explains how to set them up for your specific e-mail client.

I have Hotmail and I tried to go through the steps, but noticed it's set up for the old Hotmail and not the new "Windows Live Mail" that hotmail turned into.

So....how do I set up headers on my account?

Thanks for any help!
Alissa

I was wondering that too. I have Mozilla Thunderbird and I followed the directions for plain Mozilla and am hoping it all works out in the end. Did you try following the directions for the old hotmail?

That's what I originally used, because I was reading the directions on how to request manual credit.  The link for Hotmail on that page doesn't work because it's for the old Hotmail.  Not for Windows Live Mail (which Hotmail turned into a few months ago, permanently...even though the e-mail addresses are still "@hotmail.com"

Oh...and Shooting Stars...Yes, I did try following the directions for the old Hotmail because I didn't even think that they would be outdated. But it doesn't work because the new Windows Live Mail is set up differently, and so it doesn't have the same things you can click on, etc.  Like it tells you to click on "options" and then "mail", and in the old Hotmail that would have brought you to the section of options where you can change your mail settings.

But in the new Windows Live Mail, if you click on "options" and then "mail", it just takes you back to your inbox.  I tried looking around for almost a half an hour to figure out where to change my mail settings or to see anything having to do with Headers and I couldn't find anything.  I'm usually pretty online saavy, so that's why I'm now asking for help...

Yeah I don't particularly care for the Live version myself. I have all my emails go to my Thunderbird except my msn which I only set up because it was required with my internet setup.

Yeah I've had Hotmail for the past 8 years and I HATE this new Live Mail.  It's horrible.  Anyway....I can't request manual credit until tomorrow anyway, so I'll just wait for Kohler or someone else to help...

Here is how to change your emails on Windows Live to a header:

1-Click on what email you want to view, such as an email you received confirming a membership.

2-Once you have that mail opened, click on Reply

3-When you get that, look under Subject you'll see, Show Plain Text click on it.

3-It will then change that perticular email into a header.

4-Copy it and then you can paste it where you want it.
