Buying & Selling On Line
« on: January 12, 2010, 07:12:07 pm »
I buy and sell different items from a couple of well known websites.  I have had many good experiences but I have to say there are an incredible amount of creeps and weirdoes out there.    This includes both buyers and sellers.  A lot of the people are fakes and flakes:  spammers and scammers.  Recently I sold several small rugs on line.  I received about 80 responses.  About 75 of the respondents were fakes and flakes.  I only had about five who were real and sincere but those five came and bought everything I had.  Despite the fakes and flakes, I have met some really nice people doing this.  But you have to be very cautious.
Have others had similar experiences?

if you're talking about craig's list... yeah.
that place is crawling with spam  ::)

i posted a resume and was a little confused when i
saw about sixty replies. i soon realized what it was,
and then received about twenty more each day for
about two weeks. none of which were actual responses...
just scammy money laundering letters that you can tell
are fabricated to be sent to hundreds of people at a time.

i've never sold anything on there, but two or three things
i tried to purchase, the sellers sold out from under me  :bs:
i had one successful buy in which i was very pleased.

but other than that, i've been an ebayer for years and have
luckily only dealt with a few "fakes" or non-paying bidders.

[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

Wow, you really have to becareful where you post your resume as the fine print will tell you that your personal informaton will be sold off to marketing companies as well as the potential scams with the information you freely posted. I try to not have one ready unless I am in the market to look for a new placement.
