How hot is it in Hell?
« on: May 29, 2010, 11:28:48 am »
A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduatestudents. It had one question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) orendothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof.

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gascools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or somevariant.

One student, however, wrote the following:First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we needto know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they areleaving. I think that we can safely assume thatonce a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls areleaving. As for howmany souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions thatexist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are nota member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more thanone of these religions and since people do not belong to more than onereligion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. Withbirth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hellto increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volumein Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature andpressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as soulsare added. Thisgives two possibilities.

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which soulsenter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase untilall Hell breaks loose.

2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase ofsouls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hellfreezes over.

So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms.Therese Banyanduring my Freshman year, "That it will be a cold night in Hell before Isleep with you", and take into account the fact that I still have notsucceeded in having sexual relations with her, then 2.cannot be true, and soHell is exothermic.

The student got the only A.

How hot is it in Hell? Not too bad today, actually....we have a margarita machine set up next to the fiery depths! Michael Bolton Karaoke Nite starts at 7!

LOL no that really is a great answer to the question! Bravo that smart-assery will earn you high marks in higher education. Can't get away with that in high school English!

first you have to prove hell exists. then you can apply science.

Hell does exist:  Hell California was a city in eastern riverside California that really was a city, I myself remember it.  If you would like to check the facts on your own go to "Wikipedia" and enter "Hell California"

It was often asked by people "How hot was it in Hell today"?.......referring to the city in the desert area of the state of California.

So, if anyone ever tells you to go to hell, ask them for a bus ticket to california and tell them "well, as long as you are payin" lolololololol  :bootyshake:

My thermodynamics professor gave us a copy of that joke at the end of the semester.  I still have it tucked away in a folder somewhere.  Always makes me laugh when I read it.

Thanks for the post!

And for anyone who's been given that comment "when Hell freezes over", send them to Hell, Michigan.  It's pretty chilly there right now!  lol   ;D

If Hell does exist, I think of it as a cold, damp, and dark place, contrary to the popular idea of a burning hell.

I wouldn't really believe on this but, I think probably as hot as where I live in Arizona. During the Summer, it becomes brutal, especially in the afternoon! It would also become hot at night by being all dry and have to wear a T-Shirt when you go out for your activities.  :notworthy:

I don't think it really is a physical heat in hell but more a spiritual torment since your body doesn't stay there very long.

Hell does exist... in Michigan, at least.  There's a small town of a couple hundred people in the southeastern section of the state.

Wait.. Hell is subject to naturalistic laws of the universe?

First of all religion is man made, there is only one truth and one God, and that will give you your answer, upon recent readings, I am led to believe hell is in the center of the earth, as many report a drop that is extremely hot, a smell of burning sulfer, and a horrid experience that they have seen. The temperture is probably around 3000 degrees or so, you want a trickle of water so bad you can't stand it, the demons constantly torture you, and some are chained to the walls, there is no way out, there is only the hope you have now, accepting the truth. accepting the gift. God wants none of us to go to hell, that was a place only created for satan and his fallen angels(demons), who some roam up and down the earth now, God wants no one to go there so He sent His Son as a sacrifice so we wouldnt have to. This is not a man made religion, this is a choice, and the dreadful things I have not only heard but seen somethings myself tell me that you better accept what Love and Mercy God give you in His Son Jesus Christ, because there are people down there right now, in excruciating pain crying, and hollaring for help, but it is too late, God will not hear you there, you have to accept Him here. And this folks is the complete truth, the man made religions that are about the world are satans attempt to throw everyone off coarse of the truth and away from God so his demons may torture you and cut your head off several times. I know this to be true, I have seen demons, and they have come back and these things are not ghosts, as people believe, but satans demons.
