I dread doing that every week because it has been about 1,000 degrees here lately, but after I do I always feel much better.  I have exercised and my yard looks great!  I know what you mean though.  If I ask mine to feed the dogs he rolls his eyes.  It takes about 10 seconds to do!

I only enjoy it when I know I'm getting paid to it.

I can relate, I have 3 grandsons 2 that are old enough to help out but sometimes it is like pulling teeth, I have no yard now so when my grand children come to visit and they want to go someplace that costs money I usually have small jobs for them to do.  But rolling eyes drives me crazy  ::)

What was the temperature outside when you were working in your yard? If it was hot outside, that may have contributed to how your kids reacted to working out in the yard with you. Also, kids the of younger generation aren't going to have the same attitude that you may have when it comes to outdoor labor, expecially when there isn't some type of compensation or reward attached to doing the outdoor labor. There is always got to be a catch.

It's true, the temperature would have a lot to do with it. I cannot stand being outdoors here in the summer. I think I'd like planting flowers or something if it weren't 95 degrees plus!

It really isn't a big deal other than the fact that you asked them to do something that involved physical labor.  You should continue to encourage them to participate in activities such as planting and mowing outside along side you since it will foster wonderful memories and take them into their adult lives with a love for yard work.  Don't let thier rolling eyes and moans of agony keep you from setting a great example of family time together outside.  Keep up the great work by encouraging them to do things with you.

Most teens dont like chores they prefer to play video games, talk on the phone or hang out with there friends, and anything having to do with responsibility is torture to them haha its normal. :)

Chores are a good learning experience for teens.  They teach them to contribute by working.
