job fair cancelled for summer work

i heard on the news today that the job fair for teens needing work this summer was cancelled due to not enough jobs. there was a minimum of 12. that is not enough to let the job fair go on. i really feel for those kids coz i am currently gonna be looking for work too this summer, right now i'm at liberty tax as a waver and i'm trying to get into my local family video but i havent heard ne thing yet, but they do have about 300-400 applications to go through. i dont know if that's true but i know it has to be alot coz i applied and so did my fiance. we have called twice about the status of our applications and nothing yet. us "young adults" are in competition with the "older adults" for the same jobs. i'm sure this is true coz social sercurity does not pay alot and how are the older people supposed to pay their bills with just the money they get every month. i dont think it's fair that they dont get alot and when their spouses die it's even less. talk about being screwed.

Sorry to hear that, Storm. I work at a college and they have a job fair every semester. I noticed a trend since 2005 where--
a.) The job booths have become fewer.
b.) There are more older people in suits applying.
c.) There are less students even going to them (probably wising up due to b?).

Things are tough everywhere these days. Social Security scares me right now in the sense of what you said. Keep your chin up though! It's always darkest before dawn.

Amen and Amen again. My social security is not enough to pay my rent. I was not able to work alot, due to raising 4 kids and then was in several accidents, BUT never got disability. Anyway, God helps me alot.
