Irrelevant.  Anything non-potato related ever said or done in Idaho doesn't count.

Your declaration does not make it so.

And I'm quite certain there are multiple video responses on Youtube that take this video apart piece by piece and explain its faults (don't recall if it's these videos or others from Hovind).  If not, there are countless websites and books that do.  A high school biology book would do him well, to be honest.

1. Actually, only some of his arguments can be taken apart.
2. You are not contending that all High School biology books are totally correct, are you?

Quote
If he wants to yap about the Bible, cool; he has somewhat of a degree in that (emphasis on somewhat).  If he wants to critique a scientific theory backed by dozens upon dozens of the most intelligent, educated, informed biologists to walk the planet, he better damn well have the credentials to back it up.  But he doesn't...he has years of breaking laws and taking millions of dollars of people's money to hear bogus lectures.

This is really a fallacy of logic. Truth isn't established by credentialed people any more than lies are established by those who have no credentials. I know that you really believe that all scientists are god-like and without error as a community. Most Germans, during world war two, thought they were right by virtual of majority thought as well. I know you really do think that this kind of thinking proves something, but it really only demonstrates that analytical  is unimportant. Criticize the points specifically, it will help your own credibility. I disagree with your overall theory, does not mean I believe that everything you say is erroneous. Just because I disagree with evolutionary theory, this does not mean I disagree with every point that one who claims evolution supports. I hope we can eeper that this response demonstrates!

"Today the theory of evolution is about as much open to doubt as the theory that the earth goes round the sun." - Richard Dawkins, zoologist and evolutionary biologist

"Nothing in biology makes sense except in light of evolution." - Theodosius Dobzhansky, geneticist and evolutionary biologist

"Evolution is thrilling, liberating, and correct." - Stephen Jay Gould, paleontologist and evolutionary biologist

"We are the product of 4.5 billion years of fortuitous, slow biological evolution." - Carl Sagan, astronomer and astrochemist

and the clincher...

"Today, the theory of evolution is an accepted fact for everyone but a fundamentalist minority." - James D. Watson, molecular biologist

Now let's sit back and watch rwdeese scream, "Argument from authority!"  Damn right...these people know their stuff.

We should retitle this post "When men become Gods!" Wow! This is profound evidence of the faith thesis I have already mentioned. Have scientists become our Gods? Pcould set up a government ran by these guys! We could call it a "Scientocracy," and let the scientists decide what is ethical and what our public polices whould be. Hey, we could make one of them the high priest/ess. Next, you will try to convince me that no evolutionist was ever caught in a hoax, lie or fraud either - good grief! This post p you ever will know concerning my own theses about philosophy and faith being the real basis of atheism!

Well, I don't know him, what he did exactly or what he was thinking but I can say I know someone that was well respected in a good Bible-based church for several years.  His job was a financial advisor and he ended up scamming alot of the church's members ALOT of money.  People knew him, trusted him, liked him so they gave him alot more than they would have given someone they didn't know.  He even had people's retirement money (they thought it had been invested and would grow for them over the years, now they have nothing).  He's in jail, noone knows what happened to all that money there was never any evidence that he spent it.  I guess if someone like that could develop a "greed" issue, others (Christians) can too.  It's sad.

It is sad. The sinful nature is a very profound mechanism! (oops! I forgot - everyone is born good...lol)

I guess this is good a place as any to post this:

Has anyone read Lee Strobel's books or seen his DVD's?  "The Case For a Creator", The Case For Christ". and "The Case For Faith".

He was the Editor of the Chicago Tribune (he may still be).  He holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Missouri, and also a Master of Studies Law Degree from Yale.

This man was a CONFIRMED ATHEIST.  His wife became a Christian, and he was going to divorce her, and prove that she had been deluded and brain washed.  He devoted himself to research to "prove" that there was no Creator.  He interviewed some of the best Scientists (PHD's) of our time.  He poured himself into research to debunk the creation theory.  What he found out (scientifically), that Science actually reveals a Creator.  His words.

I've only seen the first one ,"The Case For a Creator", and it leaves no doubt to the existence of a Creator, and the falsehood of the Evolution Theory  I'm going to get the others soon to watch.  Does anybody have them?

RW, you have keen wisdom and intellect.

Lee Strobel's work/words have been mentioned and used many times throughout different threads here, Annella.

Okay, I haven't had the time to read all the threads.  It seemed worth mentioning on this subject of evolution.

Off topic here, but that is precisely why it might be a good idea for you to stay out of another discussion here simply because you have NO idea what the person has done or what anyone is talking about.

One thing I should state for all sides is that the religious sides will always fight to keep their beliefs and faith standing no matter what other sides may throw at it. Is this a good thing? For them, sure. And in a few cases it is for everyone. But this type of reasoning ability stems back all the way to childhood. The unwllingness to shed ones own beliefs and see the other side of the argument could easily be related to the idea of santa clause. Personally I was fortunate to know from the get-go that it was fake. But when I introduced the truth to a believer, of course they always fought back. Because this rocks their foundation and they want to believe because it makes them feel good. They don't want to give up what has been reinforced in their heads even though the idea is ludicrous and has absolutely no proof. If skepticism was thrown their way, they'd work around it to make it true ("reindeer don't fly" "but these are magic reindeer! And since you've never seen one, you can't deny it!"). I noticed as the grades progressed with my classmates, more and more people figured it was fake. Obviously due to maturity and reasoning ability (or a person telling them that has these traits). Granted there is no major harm in believing in santa clause, but there is in religion due to the dangerous, questionable, and enslaved philosophies they come with (not all, but many are).

Anyways, on the other side of the fence, methods of science are not foolproof. But they are indefinately perfectable. There is a tradition of criticism that enforces improvement whenever and wherever flaws are discovered. Unlike many religious beliefs, nothing is off limits to investigation or questioning. The major problem of this is the 'not foolproof' variable is used by those who are suspicious of science as their grounds for denying it as a privileged status in the truth-seeking department-- as if the religions and practices they align themselves with are better off in these regards (sound familar, rw? lol).

But where are the examples of religions abandoning old ways of thinking in regards to irresistable evidence? Time and time again in science you'll see yesterday's heresies becoming today's new orthodoxies. No religion exhibits that pattern in it's history.
