What do you think about Male and Female Prostitution?
« on: August 02, 2010, 03:30:48 am »
I think its pretty dangerous, if its not controlled to some extent-and I am not talking about a pimp either, because aparently, my sources tell me that "its hard out there for a pimp", so I don't think they qualify as "control"!
Share your thoughts and/or experiences?

(experiences??? EWWWW!)
MAYBE NOT!!!!

People can do as they wish.  Victimless "crime" = government has no business protecting people from themselves.

Amen to that. It's called freedom of choice.  Use wisely your freedom of choice, don't rely on government to choose for you.  You may not like the choice.

It is a dangerous profession. But so is being a 3rd shift gas attendant or 7/11 clerk. I do agree it should be controlled in the sense that the prostitutes should get regular checkups (for the customers sake) and do it in some safe area. That alone is hard enough though. $$$LEGALIZE AND TAX IT.$$$

Besides seeing a few in Las Vegas, I have no experiences. But if I did, it'd probably go down like in the image I attached.

Prostitution is a strict business whereas a seatbelt is a safety object meant to save people from *bleep*, gruesome, and gory deaths. You bought the car. You own the seatbelt. Therefore it should be your choice. If people want to be stupid and not wear them, that's their choice. I know it's a harsh reality that can end in disaster, but it's a freedom. And even though I wear my seatbelt, I do believe in the 'conspiracy' that it's just a way to get more money out of drivers. That freedom was taken away. But I suggest we stay on topic...

The common logic behind mandatory seat belt laws is when you fly through the windshield after a collision, there's absolutely no potential for anybody to control your vehicle, which could very easily continue moving into other traffic/pedestrian areas and cause even more extensive damage.  If you are wearing a seat belt, the likelihood that you'll remain in your seat (and conscious) increases dramatically, and hopefully you'll be capable of putting a stop to the car that's still in gear.  There you have reduced risk of injury/death.

Even further, studies show that non-seat belt users often pose an economic cost to society at large, as their hospitalization costs are often much higher than those who wear seat belts (one study points towards that number being 25% more; perhaps it's exaggerated as I didn't read the study, but I'd be inclined to say the initial claim remains).

So no, I personally feel seat belt laws serve a positive purpose in protecting even more people from being harmed in the event of traffic accidents and reduce or prevent possible economic costs to society.  In the case of having children in the vehicle, they're most certainly justifiable.

I think the question of legalizing prostitution falls back on the question of this being a "moral" country.  Seriously...although it would be in the best interests of EVERYONE involved for prostitution to be legalized and regulated, it won't happen...because of the Bible.  http://www.bibleinfo.com/en/topics/prostitution

Legalizing it would be equated with condoning it, and no "g-d-fearing American" wants to be associated with that.  And, honestly, in a country that promotes abstinence only education in public schools, do you really think that a step would be made toward legalizing prostitution?

If it were legalized, it would be lame.  Then I would stop doing it. Then all those poor women working their way through college would lose their customers.  Then they would not have their college education. Then they would have to become hookers.....

*sigh* That figures. Christianity rears its ugly head yet again. If there was a vote for it, I'd just hope people would view the actual statistics of the world doing it (legal in Germany, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, UK, etc.) and consider the monetary gain for the gov't. Times change and laws vary with that change.

I wonder how Nevada is working out with this.

Well, I agree that enforcing seat belts is justified. However, in legalizing prostitution ....it's not victimless. As in every "job" out there, you have people who do their job sloppy and barely seem to have a brain to work with. If just anyone can now decide to go into prostitution you're going to have idiots who are sloppy about it and I think spreading diseases carelessly, is not victimless.
So if it's legalized you are still going to deal with the government regulating safety issues involved. But they can regulate all they want, countless people drive everyday without a seat belt and without getting caught doing it. Legalize prostitution and it makes it easier for people to do it....and countless people will engage in dangerous unsafe sexual activities every day...without getting caught.

Oh yes....I can see how societies morals are "evolving" so wonderfully  ::)

Since prostitution is always going to be around, I would rather see it legalized and regulated rather than putting both the 'workers' and the 'customers' at risk. There's NO way it is ever going to be stopped anymore than addicts are going to stop shooting heroin and other drugs. On that note, I am also completely in favor of IV addicts being able to obtain free/nominal cost unused needles. Now, I know some are freaking out over both opinions I expressed, but when you see day in and day out what STD's, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, etc., does to people and their families, you just might have a different outlook on it.

It is by definition victimless -- that is what authorities list it as.  If you want to argue with them about what to label it, more power to you.  I use the standard terminology.

should be legal.  we own our own bodies, let people do what they want with them.  if you want to regulate it to keep or minimize spread of disease, go for it.

but to outlaw it?  meh.

selling is legal.  sex is legal.  why is selling sex legal?

Huh? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Thats fine, legalize it and control it, but it is NOT a victimless crime! What about those "little viral presents" people tend to bring home to their unsuspecting spouses? Groooooooosssss! Not a great "suprise" birthay party gift for the wife or the husband!!!!! Those people are the victims in this situation, especially if they don't find out until many years down the road.  Legalization and regulation would fix this. Give pimps the "PINK SLIP"!

"Suprise!!!!!" I got you a SUPER SPECIAL birthay present honey!

I love you soo much, baby!

I really hope you like it!!!!!

Its the kind of gift that keeps on giving!

I can't tell you what it is, but I will give you a hint.....

it does rhyme with the word "SLURPIES!!!!!"
:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

OHHHH, I'M SOOO EXCITED-

Can you guess what it is?~Go ahead honey, take a guess!!!!
