I was really looking forward to the House season premiere and it was probably the most boring episode ever.

I agree.  While I didn't find it completely horrible, I think the show is starting to become a shell of what it used to be.  I don't have high hopes for this season.

My drama's: House, Bones, CSI, and Lonestar (maybe the Event, tho I think there may be too much hype... I thought the 1st episode was tryng to be like Lost, but fell far short in its writing). Oh and Dexter! Maybe Boardwalk... I never got into Fringe and now I'm afraid that I'll not know enough to start now; the one nice thing about the X-Files was that for the most part, it was pretty episodic so if you missed a few shows or even started in later seasons, you didn't miss a whole lot of sub-plots.

My Reality: Apprentice, Hell's Kitchen, Next Iron Chef, and the Amazing Race.

I'm not really interested in the new shows...I'm super excited for the return of old shows though! I missed last nights Dexter but I'll probably be watching it soon.

I did watch the premiere of Detroit 187 and it was worst than I thought it'd be...if it was up to me, I would have changed channels about 10 minutes in. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Most of the TV shows I watch run on a different premiere schedule than the major network. I could not wait for the new season of "Sons of Anarchy". I startedwatching because of my hubby and now have to watch it no matter what. Other shows I never miss are: warehouse 13 and Bones.

My favorite fall shows are Hell's Kitchen and Desperate Housewives. I love watching Ramsey.

I never got into Fringe and now I'm afraid that I'll not know enough to start now; the one nice thing about the X-Files was that for the most part, it was pretty episodic so if you missed a few shows or even started in later seasons, you didn't miss a whole lot of sub-plots.

Fringe is definitely more of a serialized show, and would be tough to jump into right now and understand what is fully going on.  While the first two seasons had some 'stand-alone' episodes, the bulk of them definitely are mythology driven.  However, I do HIGHLY recommend this show.  It's probably one of the better shows on that America isn't watching.  If you have the time to catch up on the first two seasons, you should really do it.  If you liked The X-Files, you should like Fringe.  But, they are really completely different shows.  I think a lot of people went in expecting another XF, and were disappointed.  The sci-fi, paranormal, FBI, supernatural theme/elements are there, but that's about where the similarities end.

You are also right about how you could miss X-Files episodes and watch a few weeks later.  While TXF had a central mythology storyline, at most you'd get three weeks in a row of mythology episodes. Then there'd be several weeks of 'monster of the week' standalones, which you could watch and enjoy without having to have a grasp of the central mythology.
