Does the like button place a link somewhere else so you can click on it and easily return to the comments? It would be pointless if all it did was show some kind of indication you liked a comment you read.

What you're describing would be a bookmark but I've never heard of a bookmark to keep track of comments you like. Do you have a facebook account?
